Finding the lense on a daewoo dvd s 151

Where is the lense located on the daewoo dvd s 151? I need to clean it.

I seemed to fix the problem by blowing into the disk opening to loosen any dust. The dvd player worked fine after that. I wondered about the effectiveness of a dvd lens cleaner disk. Is one worth the try? vanvliet

How do you know this is what you need? There are actually 4 lense surfaces that can accumulate dust and dirt, and they are located on the optical traverse assembly. Once again, if you are not a servicer, I would not attempt this course of action due to the delicate nature of the laser assembly. Chances are, what is really needed is either a grating adjustment, or a spindle height change. What is your player doing?...accordianman

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You may have just been lucky enough to have the set operate one more time after that "external cleaning"...accordianman

Whether this is a stand alone dvd player or an optical drive on your computer it may need to be cleaned. If it's a laptop where you can see the lense as you pull out the tray that'll be easy to clean: use a lint free/low lint cloth or paper towel or qtip and put a few drops of clear rubbing on the cloth or qtip and gently clean the lense. If the lense can not be seen you'll a lense cleaning disc and cleaning solution (aka rubbing alcohol). Ya, it does sound like the lense is dirty. To clean it you can pick up a cleaning CD or DVD. It basically will clean your lense while it plays. You can find them at bestbuy or circuit city. The CD actually has a brush on it and will wipe the dust from the lense while the disk plays. Keep me posted. If you thought this solution was helpful please rate it when you get a chance. Bad disc error

Hi the chances are the problem you are having is going to be with the laser lense, you will probably find that it is covered in dust and is not reading the disks properly, so if you go into a computer repair or hardware shop you can buy a cd lense cleaning kit you then put the cleaning disk into your dvd player and it will then remove any dust build up and should get it working properly.

If after doing this your still having problems then the chances are the laser is on its way out and may need replacing, the problem with this is that the cost of repair could cost more than buying a new dvd player, so for now i would try the lense cleaning kit and see if that solves your problem.
9 out of 10 of the times it solves the problem so it is worth trying the cleaning first.

Also make sure you dvd's are clean and free from scratches you can run them under a cold tap to clean them and then dry them using kitchen roll just dont press to hard when drying.

Daewoo DV-6T999B DVD/VCR Combo DVD player has suddenly stopped recognizing DVD's that it has played in the past, or new DVD's. It tries to load and ends up saying Bad Disc. There is nothing wrong with...

The step after using cleaner solution and disk is cleaning the pickup lens inside the DVD.
You need to disconnect device from power and remove the case.
Find the lens, that is the glass lens and under the DVD clamp.
Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the lens.
Here is the complete procedure.

If it still does not work, you will need to replace the laser lens pickup that is the part below:

The lenses of your dvd has a dust on it. You need to buy a cd cleaner , or you have to open the dvd and locate the lenses. Clean the lenses using cotton buds with alcohol.

Dvd player is unable to read cd showing NO DISC

You can try resetting the setting to the factory specifications. To do this on your remote push the setup button. Use the up and down arrows to find highlight preferences. Press ok to enter the sub-menu. Once in the sub-menu use the up and down arrows to find default. highlight this and press ok. Then press the setup button to exit. This will restore the factory setting and hopefully the full use of your player. If this fails to restore the operation of you dvd player, you can try using a lens cleaner and see if the dvd compartment needs cleaning. You can do this with a can of compressed air. If you need to clean the dvd lense use a cotton swab and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.Apply a small amount of the alcohol to the tip of the swab and gently rub it back and forth until the lense looks bright and shines. Use the other end of the swab to dry excess moisture from the lense. Also check the transport and see if it needs to have dust and debris from the tracks or gears removed. Use the same process with cotton swabs a small amounts of alcohol to clean it up. Once clean try playing a dvd. It should work fine. If not you may have another problem with the lense or motor. You can call Phillips customer support at this telephone number. 1-888-744-5477 they will be able to help you with getting service for you dvd player. I hope this information help you with your problem.
