I am havinag a problem with my screen. It only shows me half of the screen. and it has lines on the other side

Hi there,

Normally I would say this is a problem with the screen display but since you can still use one side of it, this sounds more like the video card. Since you didn't mention the manufacturer of your Notebook, all I can say is go to the manufacturer's website and look for the Drivers & Downloads section. Once you locate your model's Notebook, re-install the drivers for your graphics card and the problem should be resolved.

If this doesn't fix the problem you may need to have the graphics card serviced.

I have yellow lines vertical across my screen sometimes they clear after a while but keep coming back and then wont restart when i shut down what is causing this and can i do anything to rectify?

There might be some memory issue so there are not enough memory for graphic device after a while. Otherwise maybe it's the driver of your graphic card. You can press Ctrl+Alt+Del key together and select Task Manager. Then on the process page you can see which process is eating more and more memory gradually. There might be a memory leak issue with that application. Turning that off may improve the performance of your computer. Other try can be to update the driver of your graphic card. You can use Device Manger of Control Panel or the driver disc of the graphic card.

L350 235 developed lines on the screen

Update the driver first. If that doesn't clear the lines you will need to have the screen or computer serviced. This is a physical flaw in either the Graphics card or the screen.

Screen blackouts & graphics mess up

I have experienced the same problem with an Nvidia graphics card. From what I could tell, it was an overheating issue to begin with, which quickly turned into a damaged graphics card. What I ended up doing on my desktop is opening up the side of the case, and decreasing the graphics load on the card. I still ended up having to replace the graphics card. I would suggest upgrading to windows 7 as well, even if you have driver problems, the upgrades in the OS seem to handle the errors much better and recovers without the severe color / rendering problems like XP did.
If you are confident it was not an overheating issue that started this, please boot your computer into safe mode, completely uninstall the graphics drivers, reboot into safe mode and install the drivers again. Most Operating Systems tend to stay 'sick' from old drivers even when you're using new drivers, so the best way to do it is completely get rid of it, and put it back in.
