Turn on the camera. "Memory Card Error" displays.

You'd better change a new memory card that doesn't have a problem to check whether it is matter of Canon PowerShot A480,or use another well camera to check if it is error of your memory card.

I want to switch off the date stamp in my pictures taken with A480, please.

Press Menu, scroll down to "Date stamp" and across to select off, date or date and time, then press menu again. The date stamp only works in Postcard mode, so if you set a different picture resolution, that will also stop the pictures being date stamped.

How to add time and date to a 10M or 6M pictures, seems

Sorry, don't know why Canon designed it this way, but it is only possible in "Postcard" resolution. This is true for all Canon models.

For those wishing to set their camera to include Date/Time stamp on the photos:
As mentioned, the date stamp only works in "Postcard" resolution. Press the "Func Set" button, then scroll down to the bottom to select postcard resolution.
Then press the menu button. Select the "Camera" menu, then scroll down to the the Date Time Stamp selection to turn it on.

Screen streaky & longditudal flashing across then goes black looking at pictures taken are ok & are clear camara has not been dropped unable to take a pictur now

The sensor array has gone bad. It will bave to be sent back to Canon for service since that is a major repair. You should consider the A480 as a replacement camera. The A480 is a little over $100 and is going to be cheaper than repairing your A95, plus the A480 will have better resolution and picture quality. It will not use you adapter lenses, if you have any.
