Weld-pak 125. The speed control doesn't work

I have a weld-pak 125. The speed control doesn't work. It spits wire out at top speed when the trigger is pulled. I checked the wire speed potentiometer out and it ohmed out properly. Any ideas? It hasn't been used much, but it is an older unit.

Lincoln weld pak 100, no heat penatration on the D setting

I believe your voltage control rheostat (potentiometer) must be worn out. Check your owner's manual for the part number and request it, it's not expensive and it is an easy part to replace. If you are doing that would be a good idea to do the same for your speed control rheostat.
Or clean them if you can, take off all the carbon particles that it build up with the time.

Weld-pak 100 Hd Problem

There is a reset button located in the wire feed spool compartment,
check to see it stays in when pushed. It is a safety when the machine
overheats, it normally resets when machine cools off. If it is working properly I suggest contacting Lincoln Electric Dealer for service.

Weld arc not stable. Wire feeds, good ground, everything looks good, liner pulled and cleaned, new tip.

Try moving the tip closer to your work and try turning your wire speed down
Most people want to crank up the wire speed when it spits and sputters
Turn it down
See if this helps

Check the voltage at the wire feed motor when the trigger is pulled.

I had a Weld Pak 100 that with 0 volts at the wire feed motor, and the problem wound up being that 2 of the big power (stud) diodes were shorted.

it is a combination of feed speed and welding amps and correct gas flow
if you are using core flux wire and not gas make sure that you reverse polarity for the flux wire
