Canon Pixma MP470, paper feed not straight

Hi Dave
First thing to check is that the left hand paper guide (as you look at the printer from the front) is up tight against the edge of the paper stack in the feeder. I've seen many printers where (over the course of day to day use) the paper guide has progressively moved itself to the left so that the paper is not held at all. The pick-up for the paper is at the bottom right hand corner and if the guide is loose the paper can skew as it goes in - and then it only gets worse.
Another possibility (and this has just happened to me) is that the long piece of sponge that runs the length of the platen (you'll only see it if you open the top and shine a light in) has come adrift slightly. Mine actually came completely out after 2 or three skewed/crumpled sheets. I washed it, dried it out with kitchen towel and then carefully refitted it. Now the printer is running like a demon.
Let us know what your outcome is.

Printer "grabs" only a corner of the paper, then cannot pull it completly into inside

Also check that the paper guide in the feed tray is tight up against the edge of the paper. If it is not, the paper can skew as it is picked up and then jam on the way in.

Feeds multiple sheets of paper at once

This usually happens when "paper dust" builds up on the take in rollers. Clean the rollers with cotton and alcohol.

Solution: Clean The Paper Feed Rollers Using The Operation Panel - MP600

HP 4250 - always prints askew with left margin at bottom approx 5mm greater than at the top. Any help greatfully received. John

It sounds like the paper is skewing as it is picked up by the roller - watch a sheet go through and see if thst is the case. Make sure the paper guide in the paper tray is pushed solidly to the left edge of the paper and check if it is loose. If it is loose then it might allow the paper to skew as it feeds in

Paper Jams and Margin Incorrect

Check the humidity of your paper, type and weight. Nothing more than 32# will run through the tray, any heavier should go through the bypass to prevent jamming. Margin follow the internal tutorial for moving your margins. Xerox machines do skew 3 degrees left for some reason or the rollars that feed from tray 2 need to be changed.
