Maybe the bobbin winder is in the the on position. Push it to the off position.

I'm sure you have it fixed by now, but I just had the same problem and it was the screw that holds the bobbin bracket in place. I took the cover off and tightened it and it was fine.

Thanks for that - yes I did find the problem and tightened the screw but I did have some difficulty in removing the case! Is there an easy way?

I don't think so. I wrestled with mine too and thought I was going break it. Luckily I didn't. Have you ever had problems with jamming? I did for the longest time. I finally from coats n Clark tread to nice thread, like aurifil, and now its fine. Just thought I would mention it. Otherwise I just love the machine. You?

Hello, my wife has just got the same problem. Any more detail on the removal of the cover and where the tightening screw is located. Janome suggest sensor maybe problem, but it appears it's actually just a tightening issue. Do you have a technical manual rather than just a user manual?

How do I adjust tension on a Janome 1600p-qc for machine quilting?

Adjust the tension the same way as sewing regular projects. You want the top and bobbin threads to meet in the middle of the quilt sandwich. When quilting, I use a lighter weight thread so I have a separate bobbin case whose tension has been tightened specifically for quilting. For other sewing projects using a standard thread weight, I use a bobbin case that is factory set and then adjust the top thread tension for each project.

2016 Janome 4900 stopped pulling up bobbin thread. SMW/Calgary said: hook drive gear disintegrated/melted. Part $17;service to replace part $335,like rebuilding the machine. Similar issues?

The following is from their web site. If this is a 2016 I would expect that it is covered under warranty.

"During the first year of ownership, warranty service will be provided by the authorized Janome dealer from whom you purchased your machine.
If you did not purchase your machine from an authorized Janome dealer, please contact Janome America through the Machine Support section of our website for further information regarding warranty service.
After the first year of ownership, please contact any authorized Janome dealer for service"

Hope this helps?

I have an E1 error on my 4900 QC. Its been unpluged for days but this error still appears please can you help thank you

An E1 error on Janome machines usually indicates a blown fuse on the main board, possibly the result of an overload. You won't be able to fix this yourself but the mechanic at your nearest Janome sewing centre should be able to provide and fit a new fuse. Might be a good opportunity to have it serviced at the same time.

Janome Memory Craft 4900 QC

its the sensor on the bobinwinder who are loose. If you are handy. you can remove the top cover of the machine.
And on the left side of the bobinwinder you will find a micro switch. Probably you have to tighten the screw on it..
