First try unplugging and plugging back in then remove caseing and insert paper clip under locking mechanism and hit eject...your locking mechanism signals that there's no cd in it and so to it there's no dvd or cd...hope that helps:)
I have had some luck in unplugging the machine for five or ten and then trying again. I have spent five to ten minutes trying to get the darn thing to spit out the disk and it refuses. Unplugging either gives me time to cool off or it helps the machine :)
To open the drive door this is not a perfect fix, but it will allow to use it.
After the unit is powered on:
1)Hit the "Open/Close" button
2)Wait a while (you will get the timing down)
3)Tap gently, yet briskly at the joint where the plastic faceplate connects with the metal top of the unitat the area situated around the middle of the dvd tray (area in the attached pic, that the red arrow points to)
