Dishwasher working fine for 6 months when it was installed, all of a sudden, it won't drain. Obviously something is blocking the drainage pipe going into the disposal. What is the best way to clear this?

Remove the clamp holding drain tube to disposer, unplug disposer, and see where clos is its gotta be right there, UNPLUGGED.UNPLUGGED you can stick a screwdriver thought drain hole in side of disposer to clear debris

Check your drainage hose going to the kitchen sink. It should be routed up to an air gap on kitchen sink, or ran to the highest point as possible under the kitchen sink counter and then slope down into the disposer or branch wye tailpiece on your drainage piping depending on what your drainage configuration is. Not going up to the highest point, or an air gap, before draining into your drainage piping allows the water inside the dishwasher hose to drain back into the unit.
Bob highberg , There are a couple of possibilities here are some answers. lets look at the easy free fixes first. 1. If the dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal the disposal may be clogged.Unclog disposal.2. Look in the the bottom of the dishwasher and see if the catch basin is full. there are two screens in the bottom.3. See if there a kink in the drainage hose. also be sure that it does have a loop in it. (like up to the top of the cabinet and back down)if it does not it will not drain completely4.Check the p trap in the pipe that the dishwasher drains into to see if that is partially blocked. this also can lead to water left in the dishwasher. hope this helps Joe Connollysealstonetops@gmail.com
draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or
drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present.
If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove
the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then
the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain
filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that
heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any
further assistance. Daniel
always when posting make and model are very helpful. most likely there is something blocking the drain ports on the basin. the most common article would be the clear wrap of a tv dinner.. or something like that .. or a paper that was surrounding a can or bottle that you put thru your dishwasher cycle. most often it is reocmmended not to wash your recycling in the dishwasher as this is a common problem that can ruin your machine. is it new ? is this the first time using it? who installed it. would be my next questions and if it is any of the above then chances are someone didnt uncap and port for drainage... if you have used it before and now all of the sudden it is blocked then it is something like a paper or clear plastic blocking your drain ports at the base in the middle of the dishwasher you will see a grate with holes if they are blocked it will not drain.
There may be some food debris in the drain tube where it connects to the drain pipe. It would be easy to detach and do a visual check, and see if you can clear the clog. Also, try to see if the drainage hose is kinked in anyway that would restrict water flow. If that doesn't work, please don't hesitate to message back with more details!!
If this was helpful please rate with a 4 thumbs up!! Thanks for using fixya.com!!
Hello- Something is blocking drain at sump. To get to it, remove racks, water tube, and accumulator cover at bottom of tub. I've seen all kinds of stuff blocking this drain. Should drain fine after cleaning. Let me know if this info helps - have more if needed. Thanks- Ed
Make sure the drain hose is not blocked or pinched. Also check where it drains into your sink pipeing to be sure food isnt blocking the drain way.
Its eather the drainage path is blocked or the pump stoped pumping.
Also, the drain hose must be installed so as to have a high spot higher than the sink drain or the water from your sink will be able to "run down hill" or drain into your dishwasher. Take a look and see!
You said, The pipe in the back is not clogged, it is wide open. When we removed
the cover for the pump in the front and open the valve, the water
obviously drains out. However, when you put it back together and try to
run it, it will go through a cycle and when it gets near the end of the
cycle that when the message appears drainage blocked and won't drain.
The electronic type washers , can be unplugged and after 5 minutes restarted and the system is then rebooted. This resets the system and clears the codes !
If the drain is not blocked then you have a faulty sensor or a bad pump
