Fuser fan Error! Help

  • cathy fab Feb 22, 2008

I will check the fan. I ordered another fan for the future if nothing is wrong with this one. I seem to think that the fan is stalling thereby overheating and causing an error. Thanks for your help.I appreciate the help.

Have you checked the fan to see if it is working when the error message appears? If the fan is not working you have to replace the fan in order to keep the fuser from over heating.

Yep, when the fan either stops running, or even becomes dirty and runs slower, it gives you that code.
The circuit measures the current flow, so either if it sees no current flow, or an increase in current flow it detects a problem and will shut down to prevent machine damage.
What you can do is unplug the machine and if you want to remove the back covers, remove the fuser fan, clean the blades, then remove the label on the fan and then the black rubber plug and lubricate the bearing. That should get it back to running.
You can call 1-800-835-6100. I just checked the price for it is $31, that is if you don't have an maintenance agreement.

915 service motor error

The error means that the printer is detecting that there is Fuser cooling fan failure. Check if the fuser cooling fan is installed properly. If it is, check the fuser cooling fan for operation. Follow the steps below:

1. Enter Diagnostics mode.
2. Select MOTOR TESTS.
3. Select Fuser cooling fan.

Does the fuser cooling fan RPM increase? If yes, perform a print test, and if the error continue, replace the printer engine card assembly. If no, check the fuser cooling fan for proper connection.

The fax shows a messages saying "open heat error"

On this machine, you may have a fuser assembly that is bad. Replace the fuser modual.
If this doesnt work, then the main board needs to be replaced.
Also what most people forget is the fuser fan. Sometimes it turns slow and you will not even notice it. It might not even turn at all.
Replacing the fan will solve most problems, but if it still does not turn on, Look on there to see if it has a small circuit board on the fuser fan, replace it too.
if all else fails the main board needs to be replaced.
Good luck

I am getting an error code SC 534 on my Ricoh Aficio MP 6000.

The best I can find is that this is related to a malfunctioning cooling fan, I cannot find that specific code for your model, but all other 534 codes from that manufacturer are related to cooling fans

Fuser error on my ibm infoprint color 1464

The error is Fuser cam position not found. Have you tried reseating the fuser? Does the fuser make any loud sounds? Based on the error message, it could either be the fuser, or the system board.

I am geeting error code 48 on my phaser 7750dn

that is a fan failure code, Either the Fuser fan ( most likely) behind the back cover near the front.Low voltage power supply fan or rear cover fan is not operating.
Most of the time it is the fuser fan that is not running or even if its running slow it will give you that error code.

Here are the notes
Problem:
Fan Failure Message (Code / Error 48)
Cause:
The machine logic detected a failure of the Fuser fan, LVPS fan or rear fan.
Solution: thumbsup.gif Fixed! thumbsdn.gif Did not fix.
  1. Insure there is adequate ventilation around printer. Refer to Section 1 of Service Manual for required clearances.
  2. Follow the procedure in Chapter 3 for this error.
  3. This problem can be very intermittent. Fans can work in diagnostics and fail in the middle of large print jobs. If unable to duplicate problem replace all 3 fans.
  4. Use service diagnostics to verify the Fuser, LVPS, and ROS fans. These fans have a third wire which provides feedback to the Engine Board.
  5. Visually check each or these fans for a build up of dust or toner.
  6. There is a correction to this procedure in the Service Manual. The fans that can cause this error are the Fuser, LVPS, and ROS(laser fan). Not the Rear fan. The rear and bottom (developer) fans are not monitored by the system and won't generate this error.
Parts that may resolve this issue are:
  • FAN ASSEMBLY, FUSER (63%)
  • FAN ASSY; LOW VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY (45%)
  • FAN REAR ASSEMBLY (Laser Fan) (25%)

ERROR

921 Fuser Error Indicates that the fuser is below standby temperature when the printer is idle.
Error codes 920, 921, and 922 may display for a cold fuser failure. A 920 error caused by low line voltage can sometimes be cleared by turning the machine off and then on again.
Service Tip: Set the Fuser Temperature to NORMAL before starting this service check.
Manually spin the fan and check that
it rotates freely. Check the cable
connection to the engine board, J13
for correct installation.

Fuser temp error

To test fuser out of circuit make sure lamp and thermal fuse are not open circuit, and thermister is neither open or shorted

Fuser repair procedure from tec manual.
Fuser Failure (U4-1, U4-2, & U4-3)
1
Switch off printer main power. Remove the Fuser Full Cover so you can observe the Heat Rods. Switch on printer main power and observe the ends of the Fuser Assembly. The Heat Rods glow.?

Go to step 5.
2 Replace the Printer Engine Controller PWB (REP 4.10.6). The error message reappears.

Problem solved.
3 Replace the Fuser Assembly The error message reappears.

Problem solved.
4 Check for a broken wire or a loose connection
between components
5 Measure the AC voltage between J23-2 and J23-6 on the AC Driver PWB. There is 110VAC (or 220VAC if the printer is the 220VAC model) between J23-2 and J23-6.
Y N

Go to step 7.
6 Replace the Fuser Assembly (REP 4.7.1). If the problem persists, replace the Printer Engine
Controller PWB (REP 4.10.6).
7 The Fuser cycles up and down.
Y N
|
Replace the Printer Engine Controller PWB
8 Measure the voltage between P401-1 and P 401-4 when the Fuser Fan cycles up and down. There is 24VDC between P401-1 and P401-4 when the fan is rotating and 0VDC when the fan is off.?
Y N
|
Replace the Printer Engine Controller PWB
9 Replace the AC Driver PWB

Please rate solution to your question "How can I check that new Fuser unit is ok?"
