All of a sudden the color in our set went off the norm.....everything is either green or purple. We tried to adjust everything with the remote but no luck. The set is 11 years old and it might be cheaper to just buy a new one. That is unless you have a solution that's easy & not too expensive.

Re: Color problem with TV
Are you getting Green or purple or pink patches all over the screen? This could be a problem of Degaussing. Have you placed any Magnetic source near the TV recently? Some Tape recorder or walkie talkie or a Speaker, etc? The Magnetic field created by any of the above sources can cause coloured patches over a colour TV screen. It also happens if you shift the TV from one location to another.
The third possibility is that the Picture Tube's Red Output stage gone faulty. Unless you are a trained Solid state Electronics Technician, there is nothing you can do. Better go for a trade in.

it may just be your tv. some tv's have that type of problem sometimes. actually, i wouldnt say its a problem, just a lack of effort in the makers of your tv. if you dont mind the problem, just dont worry about it. if it just drives you crazy, get a new tv.
I encountered the same problem with a color computer monitor several years ago. Everything went green. The repair techies told me that's a sign that the power supply is going bad. You will not be able to adjust the color. You will have to either fix it or replace it. Hope this isn't a common problem with this model Samsung TV.
Hopefully someone on here has a manual and can tell you exactly where the tint controls are. Also need to try adjusting the color level, turn it clear down so you have a black and white picture.
Is the picture still green over the screen with the color control
set clear down to black and white? If it does, you might
have an issue with the green gun going out or problem in the
circuitry to it.
By the way, the best way to adjust the picture settings on a
tv are to first turn the color control clear down, then adjust
brightness and contrast for best black and white picture, then
bring up the color level to where it should be and adjust the
tint for best red/green ratio.
I would check the green signal all the wat to the display screen to determine is this is a signal problem or a system short. I would recommend that you take this set to a qualified electronics technician
Turn the set on without an antenna, so there is only snow on the screen. Measure the 3 cathode voltages at the CRT, red green and blue. If the 3 voltages are about the same, around 175 volts, then the CRT is bad (purple picture means bad green gun). If the red and blue are around 175 and the green is over 200 volts, then there is a chassis problem, usually the video output transistor itself has gone bad or come loose.
