Question about Xerox 8830 Copier

X8830 Hello All, I wondered if I might pick your brains over a problem that has recently developed with our 8830. We are unable to print off on this machine! After sending a plot, the phrase ?PROCESSING? is displayed for what seems like an eternity. Of course, nothing happens in the meantime. In the end, I have to restart the machine to clear the display and cancel the plot. The machine is a bit low on Toner but was recently fitted with new Developer and a new waste bin. Any thoughts as to the root cause of this problem and how I might be able to rectify it? Also, any trouble-shooting info you have on this machine would also be much appreciated. I just went through this with my 8825. It turns out all we needed to do was reload the Firmware for the Controller (in our case the N5T controller firmware). Download the firmware from Xerox's website for your controller, and then upload it via the WebPM interface. Wait for it to load and restart on its own. That got us up and running.

Color printing is printed with a yellow background in bizhub c450

have you replace the Transfer belt.??? It also has a transfer roller for yellow. (Called First Transfer) since it is transferring yellow off the drum. You have replaced the yellow image unit???? 2nd transfer is to the paper!!!

How do I fix a black smug on the leading edge about 12 inches long, all the way across then print. It only happens on the first page on each run. All others pages are good.

Well, well, this machine was my bread and butter for years.
The black edge could be caused by the developer being U/S original life approxmatly 9 months, or an over concentrated toner / developer mix. That would need setting up again. You'll need a manual for that, or a visit from the local Xerox engineer. Do you have a wide format scanner to go with that system? Does the black edge only occur with a copy or a direct print from your CAD system?

Line appears on copies from top to bottom of the sheet, Approx 7 7/8 in. It happen both off the glass and when ripping a job to machine

With lines showing up with both coping & printing, you are most likely need a general cleaning and if that will not work, odds are you are going to need a new OPC drum & drum cleaning blade and a new developer change..... Good Luck

Our card printer has suddenly stopped working. It turns on fine, but it won't pick up the cards anymore and when I try to print it reads "error". I'm wondering if it is no longer compatible...

What kind of printer is this? I've experienced the same problem with a couple different models, and every time it has been the result of bad rollers. If they're unable to pick up the cards, then you will see an error.

You can download 8830 drivers from
you need to check the type of controller that is fitted to printer.
Look on the back at box where connections are terminated.
label should have (F5Y or CNG - N5T - HFT and others select which is fitted and operating system, other support documents are also found here.

I'm setting up a 8830 and a 7356. The scanner says ready but when I put in the paper it says not ready take out the paper. The 8830 has a code LL-22, is that something I can fix?

As far as the scanner insert a sheet to copy and when it says NOT READY instead of rolling the paper out the way you put it in, roll it forward until it comes out the back.

An LL-22 is a HV power supply error. Most of the time when I see this the corotron wires are contaminated by developer. You need to clean it with a vacuum.

why not take the developer and drum units out of the skew copy one and put them in the other? At least that will tell you if dev/drum/toner is the problem.......
Skew copies on the other...look for torn corners of paper tight in the end of feed chutes etc, sometimes clearing a jam will leave a bit in there enough to slow down that side of the feed.If you can see any rollers make sure they are closed and parallel to each other and clean...
