ViewSonic Pro VP2130b 21.3" LCD Monitor Logo

Had a look at a ViewSonic VP2130 with a friend of mine who used to fix TVs. He found a bad cap and has replaced it, however the LCD will still not function. We've looked at all the caps in the power supply and checked all the diodes. He has found the 12v and a 20v rails, and tells me that as far as he can tell the power supply is working. Unfortunately the screen still does not power on, the led on the front does nothing, and the screen remains dead. What else can I do, or what else can I have my electronics savvy friend look at before I condemn the screen to the spare part pile?

Had another look at it today still not fixed but made some progress maybe, this time looked at the controller board as well as the power supply, tested most/all the caps, one was slightly popped and was working at only half capacity, and another 1000uf cap was rated at 1400+ !! anyway replaced both of those and put everything back together and now it works - but only sometimes. while it was working we did a power cycle and then it stopped working. took it apart, put it back together and it worked again, until the next power cycle.

I looked for the J2 noise reduction and couldn't really find it, I found several Jumpers labled J3 onwards. possibly found a J2 under some white glue stuff. but even if i find it, what am I supposed to do to it, its only a strip of metal wire, theres nothing to replace... please help its so close to working!

Its the J2 noise reduction. my **** did the same thing i changed it and now my **** works if u still have problem just post it here and ill go from there

to put it simple it should be right before the power supply where you plug the cord into or the male end and from the J2 it leads to power supply . they will still push power to the power supply even if they r bad. but they dont filter out enough static therfore it trips a saftey switch in the power supply and keeps it from powering up the screen as a saftey feature

Viewsonic uses cheap caps in their monitors, so look for bad caps with bulging top, replace them in a set.

I have a 42" viewsonic

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Viewsonic vx2245WM has no picture when I plug it in. I tried DVI and VGA.The little blue light comes on indicating theres power? But I have no image. I got this used from a friend. It didnt come with any...

Capacitors inthe power supply will be the first thing to check, look for caps with bulging tops or seals, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
The porblem can also eb in the onverter circuits, or bad lamps. Post back what you find so we can guide you further.

Exactly the same problems.. It's been repaired 2 times and last night it went totally black... Bummer... but the image quality is excellent ( when it works) boooo viewsonic.. Natalie

What parts were replaced, or cheap parts were used? More likely to be either bad caps in the power supply, or bad backlight inverter circuits, see failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

My Va720 goes black when you 1st turn it own. If you turn it off and on several times it might stay on. Once you get it to stay on it's good until you turn it off.

You may either have bad backlight inverter board or bad lamps, bad caps. Check to see if you still have 12vdc feeding the inverter board when it turns black screen, if you do, then it is the inverter board.

NEED TO CHECK FOR BAD CAPS IN VIEWSONIC vp2130

Hello,
To disassemble your monitor follow these steps.
1. Remove the stand, usually 2 to 4 screws
2. Now there will be screws in each corner on the back of the monitor.
3. Take a small flat blade screw driver and seperate the two halves of the case. The front and back are held together by plastic latches spaced several inches apart around all four sides.
4. After the back case is off the boards you will be looking for are under the metal shield, remove the screws that hold it on.
5. Check my web site at www.ccl-la.com , we have pictures of what the bad caps look like if you are not sure.
6. Be sure to replace any capacitors that have raised and blown tops.

I hope this helps, If so please rate my solution.

Viewsonic N3250W won't power on

Got the same problem for a N3250. I'm not an electronic engineer and will attempt to fix my TV. Therefore I got the FSP2123F02 ($49.75)and now they have a harness 4WT0062302GP ($8.90) that will do a quick plug and play and will avoid any solder of the pins. That is my understanding can anyone corroborate this procedure. By the way I got both products from electronica-usa.com
I repaired it on June 28th with the lsit of parts above
More deatil information here (of the problem) http://forum.eserviceinfo.com/viewtopic.php?p=149367#149367
