Your monitor may have an option to set it as "manual" or "auto". If set in manual, you will have to turn off the monitor power switch each time. If it has the "auto" setting , it should shut off or "go to sleep" when it detects no input signal.

First thing I'd check is for a BIOS update for your computer under the Acer support pages (acer.com). In some cases, thermal control updates are included in newer version of the BIOS, if it is a manufacturing problem.
Goto http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php and download Hardware Monitor, start the computer and immediately run the hardware monitor app to check how high the temperature on the CPU gets before it shuts down.
Continuing use under this condition may damage your Windows installation because of the sudden shutdown.

Try connect your monitor to some other box and try if it works the same way or as a normal pc boot. If it works well with other box, the issue is with the BIOS. Get the BIOS flashed with the latest version of flash program for the Bios chipset which your board is using. If the monitor shows the same symptom on a different box too.. you may need to get your monitor repaired. Good Luck

Monitor indicates no signal shuts off

try checking your windows monitor settings and disable the windows monitor shutdown timer. also, check the cables and try to keep them firmly in place (duct-tape would be useful for that). if the problem is related to windows settings, then ok. if not, use the second resolution. I'm glad if could help!

My Acer Aspire 4315 Can't Shut Down Normally

That usually means a Windows problem (not hardware).

The best way to identify the issue is installing a fresh copy of Windows and all of the updates (I know is a lot of work) and see if still happening (i bet it won't)

Good luck!

Shutdown

There could be any number of reasons for this to happen. However, the most likey reason - assuming that it runs for a bit, and then shuts down - is that the heatsink/fan on the CPU is not working, or not installed properly. Once the CPU heats up to a certain point, it will shut down to prevent damage. Perhaps the CPU fan as gone bad, or is completely clogged with dust.

Can not save to bios

windows and the bios needs to know that the operating system can be shut down through windows, so when you go into the F2 or Del on boot up, go into advanced cmos setings and look for ACPI and make sure it is enabled. This sets the motherboard to support shutdown. Save and exit settings and reboot. Now go to control panel>performance and maintanance>power options and set the correct instruction for shutdown to shut the pc down. Remember evertime you remove the cmos battery or reset with jumpers you have to reset date and time and anything else you have changed to suit your set up
