My garage door opener's remote control was stolen during a car broken-in. I have problem to locate the official website for "Garage Master".

    Thank you for the answer.

Now I found an old remote control which I thought was the spare one of the original pair. However, it does not work -

    1. This remote was labelled as "LIFT-Master security +" vs the opener labelled as "GARAGE-Master security +". Are they from the same maker - competible?

    2. this remote has a different FCC ID. Should remote and opener match in FCC ID?

Never the less, could I program this old remote control and how?

I try to reprogram : there is a red butter (only button)in the back of the opener when pressed a yellow light was on and stayed on for longer than 6 second. I wait until light was off, then pressed the red butter again, while the yellow light was on (and stay on for 30 second) then pressed the remote control and wait untile the yellow light went off. It does NOT work. What did I do wrong?

I am very confused. Are you sure that your instruction is specifically for "Garage Master security + 1/3 hp"? FYI, I did try with a retired local repairman gave me instructions over the phone.

    1. The feel of red button is different from the remote. There seems a spring under the remote button while the red button is more a "up/down" button. So, I don't know why or how to "hold" the red button, particularly the yellow light stays on so long.

    2. When the yellow light stayed on longer than 6 second, he said the yellow light could stay on up to 30 second.

    3. If the opener has "a bad logic board", how come it worked with the stolen remote for all this time.
    4. Over the phone, his instruction was : Press the red button first then press the remote button 2 times. The 3rd time, it should open the opener - (it did not work). This is opposit to your suggestion - press remote button first, then the red button. Which is right way?

    5. is there battery in the remote? How to replace it?
    6. should there be a "eye" on the remote? Mine does not have one? Should this be matter?

7.He considered the remote is bad instead. However, he said just buy any Security + remote i.e. Chamberline. Do you agree?
    8. Why I could not find remote control under the brand name of "Garage Master"? Is there such brand at all?

I would appreciate if you can answer each of my questions specificaly by each number. General ideal does not help me to solve the problem - why I can not program my other "Life Master security +" remote given to us by our builder?

To erase the memory of the opener so that your old remote will no longer work you need to locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit. Press and hold this button for 6 seconds. No remotes will now work.

To program the new remote when you get it, hold the button down on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button.

Call any local door opener repair company from the yellow pages and you should be able to buy a remote from them.

If when you press and immediately release that red button the light stays on for 30 seconds you have a bad logic board.

I am sure Liftmaster is the manufacturer of your opener.

Help truck was stolen, I used remote control to "teach" truck how to open door... I reset door opener and relearned the remote..my question is do the remote have a new entry code when I learn, or remote is...

Ounce you reset ALL code of the garage door opener (engine hook up to the ceiling of the garage that open up the door), ounce you press the reset button on the unit, it disable all transmitter (portable or the one install in your vehicle). Your garage door opener has a receiver in it and your all units that you press on to open the door are the transmitter, so by pressing the reset button on the door opener, you erase all codes of all the transmitter that where programmed to open-up that door.

So if you teach your vehicle using a portable unit and you now reprogram your new vehicle with the SAME portable transmitter, then yes who ever has your stolen vehicle can come back with your stolen vehicle to your house and open up your garage door since you re-programmed the door opener using the SAME transmitter same code sent to the unite to active it).

Buy a new transmitter to re-programmed your new vehicle

How to reporgram my opener one of my openers were stolen out of the car. I want to purchase a new opener monitor and not have to buy a whole new garage door opener

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and hold this button for 6 seconds and it will erase the memory and none of your remotes will work. Now hold the button down on your remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Do this for each remote you have.

Here are some things to check.

Look at the LED light next to the SMART/LEARN button on rear of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens cover in order to see it. If the light is flashing rapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remote controls. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When you remove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stop flashing. This remote needs to be replaced.

If one of your neighbors remote controls is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, you door will open when their remote is activated. If this happens you will need to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls. Press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds or until you see the small LED light near the button turn itself off. If the above steps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to the wall control button.

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens. Press and hold it for 6 seconds. None of your remotes will work but the hard wired wall control will. Craftsman Garage Door Opener

unplug the power of your door opener for a few minutes and plug it back in. Try the remote control that you have and see if it opens the door. If it doesn't open the door, reprogram [learn] the remote control you have and that is it. The other remote will be useless ... and you just proved it to yourself!
