Disc error - ps3 constantly loading but disc not read. I went on youtube and saw that this is a common problem, but no common solution.

This is an extremely common problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer read the game disk properly.

The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.

The symptoms you describe are typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.

Make a backup and then try and restore the system.

if this doesnt work then ring sony and say you have error 80010514

Open up the PS3 and then the Blu-Ray Drive and then clean the lens with rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip. I heard that lighter fluid works way better than rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, so try it. I'm not responsible for any damages to your console.

your laser is failing, it needs to be replaced or fixed by Sony. I do that repair for $130

this is a little something i picked up a while ago turn on the ps3 wait for boot up if possible as far as the boot will go
if dont boot up theres a thing called a cold boot
pull plug while on or connect to surge protector with on off switch the cold boot should reset last best boot up
