Hi Frederick,
When you reset the modem all the setting become default.
I mean all the configuration get erased.
For the belkin the ip address is
The default user name is Admin and for password leave it blank.
At times you will need to operate in the ip address to access the modem router
I mean you will need to set your ip in the range
You need further assitance I am at your service

I have a 655 router.. running windows7 on one computer on Home Network.. Router initially working connected via cat5 wire. Disconnected router, moved to new location on desk...reconnected...

You can reset both the modem and the router by removing the power cord where it connects into the router (Called Recycling the Power) I would do it with both the modem and the router for about a full 2 minutes.
Sounds more like you have a connectivity issue from interference from something on you desk. Some known culprits are:
High Intensity Lamps Fans Radio Interference coming from your wireless phone Power strip with filters for telephone signal any other environmental issues including computer monitor. Next door neighbor's router signal bleeding through. Filter device missing from phone Filter device missing from phone line connected to you TV
Try moving the router back to the old location. Does problem go away. You are now too close to something thats breaking your signal. I can log into my neighbors access point across the street and two houses away. Signals are strong but can be blocked by a lot of things mentioned above or tin foil.
Check it out,

Have 2 computers connected to Netgear WGT624NA router via ethernet connectors and have operated well for over a year. Now have gotten DSL and have run phone line to modem and via ethernet cable have...

Have you tried to reset router. It has to be done in order.
1. unplug router
2. unplug modem
3. shut down computer and restart after waiting 1 min
4. after restarting computer plug power back into modem and wait for all the lights to start blinking
5. after the modem is working plug power back to router and plug in the computer with ethernet cable and make sure you have internet,
6. try to link up with wireless,
If this does not work you will have to setup the router for wireless if it is att wireless you will have to call them to give you the password to set it up.

Need to access wirless internet but dont know my security key or passphrase.

Hi connellmandy, no real way around this... Best to reset the wireless router back to factory defaults, reconfigure to lock it down and apply the security key/passphrase to your wireless laptops. you WILL also need to know what your old settings were for example, your ISP username, ISP password, IP addresses, your new wireless security keys, and ports and services that were opened. It all needs to be re-entered.
For Belikin routers:
•Unplug all LAN cables from the router.
•Unplug the router power cord connector from the back of the device.

•Using a paper clip or something similar that will fit into the reset hole, press continue to hold the reset button, then carefully reinsert the power cord, making sure not to release the reset button in the process.

•Continue to hold the reset button in for at least 15 seconds after inserting the power cord, then release it. After about 10-25 seconds the router will boot and it will be set back to the original factory default settings.
By default the password on the router is left blank, and the default IP address is

For Netgear:

The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. (Try these before resetting the router.) You may be able to get the wireless security key and/or passphrase.

  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
  4. Log in with the default password.

If the router configuration was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.

  5. Unplug the router's power.
  6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  8. Wait for the router to reboot.
  9. Log in with the default password.
Good Luck .. hope it helps out. Most routers have a small pinhole at the back of the modem to reset the unit back to factory defaults.

I have a Linksys wired router, which I have had for years and everything worked fine until a couple of days ago when I was no longer able to connect to the internet. I disconnected the router and connected...

Do this with your network setup. Power down your DSL/Cable modem first by unplugging the power. Power down the router next by unplugging the power. Power off your computer also. Now , power up the dsl/cable modem and let it resync with the ISP ...all lights green and showing activity. Next power up the Linksys router and then do a factor restore reset by pushing in the reset and holding it for a count of 5 (the front lights will go red then flash) let go of the reset as your linksys router is all set to default setttings from the factory. Now power up your computer and try the internet after it boots up. Should hook to the internet with no problems now. Now access your router menu by typing and hit enter. The router log in menu should now display. just click on the password tab and enter admin the default password and then change your password in the router to something hard to remember and WRITE IT DOWN! There is also great help from linksys web site on networking your home. Good luck,

Dont remember password to dlink wbr-1310 router and want to add another computer to network. Need to get password, can you help.

Lost Password
Please read for complete FAQ.

If you forgot your password and/or want to reset the router back to the default settings:

Step 1 Power the unit off by unplugging its power adapter.

Step 2 Insert a paper clip in to the reset pinhole. Press and hold the reset button with light pressure.

Step 3 Power the device back on by plugging it in. Continue to hold the reset button.

Step 4 Watch the lights on the front of the gateway. The M1 & M2 should come on solid. When the M1 & M2 begin to blink slowly, release the reset button.

The unit will reboot itself and should be at factory defaults. If the M1 light is not blinking about once per second, recycle the power on the gateway.

If the M1 & M2 continue to blink rapidly, you held the reset button for too long. Power the device off and repeat the reset procedure.

The default username for our routers is admin. The password is blank. If your router asks only for a password, use admin (lower-case).

T-Mobil Hot Spot at home

It doesn't sound like you're missing something - it sounds like there's a problem with your router. Unplug it for 15 seconds and try again. If that doesn't work, factory-default it by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds and then unplug it for 15 seconds and then try again. (You'll need to reconfigure it after that.)

Are you only having wireless problems, or are you unable to connect via cable, too?

Internet access problem

Unplug power from the modem AND the router.  Plug in the modem and wait until all the lights turn on (except if there is an activity light).  Then plug in the router.  Reconnect to the network from your computer.
