You need to remove the tire, brake calipar and rotor, disconnect the upper/lower control arm,hub bearings then slide out the axle. You can then slip the boot off.If your hearing a clicking sound when you make a turn with the car the axle is bad and needs replaced. If the cv boot rips/tears the grease runs out over time and the axle is not being lubercated and therefore becomes damaged.

Replacing CV boots on 1987 Mazda 323

Hi to do it properly the shaft has to come out and apart. This takes special equipment and know how. There is one way that I have seen where you can do it with out removing the shaft. There is a split boot that goes over the shaft and snaps together. Check with your local parts supplier. If you use this method make sure you get some grease into the CV joint. I hope this helps.

Diagram cv inner outer mazda sting

Inner cv's hardly ever pack up it is the outer ones as it works harder in turns. it will be a clukking noise and some grinding. Make sure they are well greased and the rubber boots are not torn. if it has wear replace it as it can be costly when it fails.

Hi, The front end of my mazda clunks real bad and loud, while turning the wheel at any speed. Both directions. Help!

Check boots on CV joints for tears. Torn boots result in CV wearing out. The boots are at each end of the axles going from your transmission to the front wheels. The normal repair is to replace axles. Both can be more carefully inspected on a lift before deciding if only one or both axles should be replaced. Any questions, please reply. I'm going to bed now, but will answer any replies tomorrow.

Hi there, what will happen if i do not get craced

hi this could cost you allot of money in the long run if you don't, the reason is, the cv joints have ball bearings inside which are very smooth, the cv gateor/boot holds in the grease to prevent them from seizing and going rusty you can actually buy **** boots that glue together that you fit without taking the drive shaft out if this is what is the cost that would be bothering you, but yes they will need replacing and soon as you can do it..hope this helps please vote thanks

Usually that is the sign of a cv joint going. I have an accord with front wheel drive and it did the same thing. THe cv boot being torn could have caused the initial breakdown of the bearing faces...

Need to put in new cvs on a 95 model 121

its not to hard to replace. what you need to do is jack the front of the car up, unbolt the cv nut and the wheel hub and pull the cv out off the socket. it is an idea to drain the gearbox oil first. you may have to get a crawbar in to pull the cv out
