Question about Boston Acoustics BA7500 Computer Speakers
I have a HP Laptop with Windows 7 64-Bit, trying to use Boston BA7500G speakers and no sound comes out of the speakers.
No rear speakers being used.
When I turn the test channel on it works through the test rotation fine.
I am plugging the cable into the headphone jack and the sound is switching but no sound is coming from the speakers.
Well we have eliminated the laptop as a problem,.. that is very good. As far as what the problem with your BA unit is,.. we only know that it does not function with an external device (laptop and mp3 player). you already mentioned that a sound test from the unit plays through all the speakers,. right? With that lets start with the most basic item that will cause this problem,.. the cable that comes from the BA unit and plugs into the laptop or mp3 player. Is the cable plugged into the right place on the BA unit? Does the cable disconnect from the the BA unit? if so, do both ends of the cable look the same or is there 2 ends (maybe red and white) that plug into the BA unit? Please let me know when you can and we can continue troubleshooting this.

If the subwofer portions is BA7500G then it could be that it takes only a digital signal. This series was sort of strange in that some units would take a digital only signal and some would take digital or analog. If it is one that takes digital only then you may need to use these speakers in combination with a soundcard that can output a digital signal through a mini jack.
That may sound discouraging, but it really is worth it for these speakers. They sound great!! I have been using these speakers for about 9 years and they still rock. Now I have built a new computer and I have to decide whether to buy a pci express soundcard or look for new speakers and keep the bostons with my old build.
