now that my weird noise problem went away, my hifonics mono amplifier has gone too sensitive cause the red light comes on too easy and it shuts off the bass,i also have noticed that the red light on the bass control comes on for about two seconds and then off and then the amp comes on,Is that normal or is the red light tellingme that something is wrong?what happens when the protection comes on?thanks for your help.

Crackle or distortion? either you have a problem in your low level imput wires coming from the head unit or your amp is sending a faulty signal...or if you are running dual subs and you have one wired oposite the other they will cancel eachother out, which is a common mistake.make sure that they are both pos. to pos. and neg. to neg.
or there blown or almost blown

Testimonial: "could it be the stereo rca outlets?"

  • acrandall240 Feb 10, 2010

on the head unit? unless its an old head unit i wouldnt rule it out, alot of times(ive had it happen) the rca wires themselves go bad at one of the plug ends or somewhere where there hidden in your paneling. honestly radio shack sells rca wires that are cheaper and stronger than kit rca wires. also advnced auto parts sells battery 0/1 cable that ive used for power wire thats like half the price of other 0/1's

try different rca's then let me know...

MTX 12'' sub noise

Sounds like your sub is overextending itself, and possibly losing contact at the voice coil. Overextending will make a weird rattling sound, losing contact at the voice coil will make a popping sound.

It sounds like the subwoofer speaker has blown. If you are comfortable working with a soldering iron and speakers then you can open the case and replace the speaker with a replacement subwoofer speaker. A good online store for replacement speakers is

Subs make a noise

If your sub or its amplifier is placed too close to the transmission box, this situation can cause interference. I suggest that you buy a ground loop isolator or an RCA filter. If the problem is about grounding, then you have to buy a ground loop isolator. Otherwise, an RCA filter can solve your problem. First of all, the problem has to be diagnosed.
