Check you have Wireless service running.

Click Start button
in RUN prompt, type "services.msc" without the quotes.
scroll down till you get :WLAN Autoconfig"
Double click on the "WLAN Autoconfig"

Click on Start button and set the startup type to "Automatic"

That's it.

Have you installed any new software? Or any program updates. To me it sounds as though your drivers have become corrupted. What you need to do is to go to the HP support website and re-download the correct drivers for your HP model and Operating System. When you update the drivers reboot and check to see it you're good to go...All the best

Is there a blue light to show that the wireless is active on the laptop? If not, switch the wireless connection on once windows has loaded. It may be that you have a faulty connection between the wireless card and the motherboard. Check out this link:

you might have to review the driver version of your wireless. try to check if there are updates that might fixed the bug. go to my computer, right click, manage, device manager, network adapters - under it move your mouse on top of the wireless, right click, properties, driver and check driver version and date. then go to your hp pavilion product support http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=432999&taskId=135

Connection to laptop

If you have wireless capabilities on your laptop, then turn it on and right click the internet icon in your system tray (it should be crossed out to show that you have no connection), click on connect to network and it will show you all networks available. If your wireless router is up and running then this should show your network. Click on your network then click on connect. It will ask you for the password or the wpa key which will be the password that you generated for your network when you set up your wireless router. Type your password in then click ok, then you should be on the net. If your laptop does not have wireless capabilities then buy a wireless adapter and plug it into your usb port download the software that came with the wireless adapter then follow the same instructions above to access your wireless connection.

I hope this helps
