Hi,
this is a common error with operating systems and devices.
If you go into my Computer/system/device manager. And remove the installed USB devices. shutdown the computer, and reboot it. then try putting your USB device in.
What general happens, is that if you have had an older device in the USB port at any time, the port configures itself to this setting. options are to try another port on the computer ( some older ports only support usb1.1 )
ensure you have up to date drivers on the connecting device and on the connecting computer.
Hope this helps Mike @ Compurepair.

I have a Quantaray SD card reader, I put a SD card in it and it doesn't work. I guess I need a driver or software in my Windows 7

Are you sure it's an SD card? If it's larger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and won't work in devices designed only for SD cards.

I dont have USB 2 drivers on my computer, I am on XP service pack 3. I cant update from the device management list as there is no USB2 thing there, it just updates my 1.1 drivers to newer 1.1 drivers.

USB drivers are part of the operating system. But--that being said, you need to have USB2 support on the motherboard.
I suspect that your motherboard does not support that.
You can buy a PCI card that has USB2 ports on it.

Try opening up the device manager and unistall everything in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Then reboot and let windows reinstall the USB controllers. Windows should now be able to recognize properly USB2 devices.

FREEAGENT 250 GB AND USB2 NOT CONNECTING

Most of the time if you get an event 51 error you will need to reinstall drivers associated with that device to fix it. I would delete the device from device manager, uninstall any software that you installed for it, then restart your computer and reinstall the software. I would do this for both the card and the drive. I would also run Windows update to see if it finds any other drivers that you do not have installed. If that does not work it is possible that the card and drive might not work properly together. The only other thing I can suggest trying is reinstalling windows

It sounds like your Windows XP might be missing the USB2 drivers. Try going here http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/ and download the driver needed and see if that fixes your issue.
