Hello :

Your computer is still new , so don't be worry by now . I recommend you make a new formatting for your laptop hard drives [ that will delete everything on it ] . After that just install a fresh copy of the OS you desire.
If the operation system you will install on your laptop is not an original one , then never in your life make updates for it . Because that will kill your laptop again .

good luck .

rate if useful please !

As your computer is only a 3 days older, there is not much for you to be worried. Try to install the OS updates only when there is a need for it, for example, if your OS is slow & there is a better upgrade from the OS provider, then you can use Updates. Also make sure that you have the correct Antivirus has been installed in your Computer, as there might be lot of Malwares, which will affect the performance of your Computer.

When I turn it on the normal boot up screen comes on and shows the LG logo then the ATT logo then it goes blank and says unfortunately settings has stopped and I cant do anything at all on it.

This will have been very likely caused by a recent Windows software update (but it can also be indicative of a hard disk problem). It would help if you indicated which version of windows you are running.

1. Starting Your Computer in SAFE MODE.
If you know how to get to a "safe mode " selection page then go there, select safe mode and start the computer in safe mode. Then once in safe model run a windows "system restore". Don't select the most recent restore point but one that goes back 4 or 5 days prior top when the no start issue occurred.
Then run system restore in safe mode and when finished the computer will restart. Leave it alone for a while and you should get normal windows loading and a message eventually that the system restore has been completed. You may notice at that stage that it is still actively loading software so wait until it has finished and is idle. Then check that you can open your programs normally. If you cannot, and find nothing will open, go back to system restore and select a different restore date than the one you just used and rerun the system restore. You may need to go back to safe mode to do this.

2. Once fixed, and to prevent this problem recurring, go to the windows update page and change the parameters from automatically downloading and updating your system to the requirement for the updates to be downloaded but they cannot be installed without you specifically allowing the install. If you do not do this the system update that caused the problem in the first place will be automatically downloaded and installed again and you will end up with the same problem or worse.
Be very selective with the windows updates you allow to be installed in future since you have had this problem and I would suggest you only allow an update that is nominated as essential but first check exactly what it is as you may not really need it.

Microsoft has been and still is causing many thousands people to have problems with their computers loading windows as a result of some of their software updates and clearly the software people do not know what the implications are for the types of software updates/system amendments they do that cover many different types of computers. They could not even get Windows 10 right when it was released and had to make some significant changes after release due to many problems that arose with W 10.

Hope this helps with whatever version of Windows you are running. If not let me know. If you can get your computer running in safe mode it is a good sign and you can usually recover from there by using the tools available.

When I turn on my computer it takes me to a gray screen declaring a failure to update windows successfully and just restarts repeats and routinly has become stuck in firsts level of computer hell.

Hi Leonard Fazio,
Have you tried going into Safe mode and the settings, control , uninstall programs - select show updates and then remove last update.

another way is to select system restore while in safe mode and restore to an earlier version depends on what o/s you have. Search for it in control panel or settings. While in Safe mode.

MY LAPTOP WENT OFF DURING UPDATES NOW IT WONT FINISH LOADING, it comes up update 3 of 3 then restarts and says same again keeps doing it not letting me in to lap top anymore seems stuck on updates

Hold F8 while booting to go into safe mode, or last known good configuration. Then, preform the update from there, and that should fix your problem.

My computer is stuck in the configuring updates: stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete.

give it some time to install that update, if its still not working then might be possible that the update was not downloaded properly or it got corrupted while installation due to which its stucked on stage 3 of 3.

In these situations we can try to restart the computer into the safe mode and and then check which update is causing the computer to stuck on stage 3 of 3. If possible try to kill that update in safe mode too. To help you on that you need to provide me some more information.

Which operating system are you using?

Hi follis_valpn,

If you are trying to install the Windows Update 937287, you will get this (configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete) message. If you are getting the message even after restarting the Computer, you may need to repair the Windows (using the installation Disc) or restore the Computer to an earlier date.

First you can try restarting the Computer in the Safe Mode and do the System Restore. To access the Safe Mode, please press and hold the F8 Key whlie restarting the Computer. Then, please click "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and "System Restore". Then, please select a restore point (Date) when the Computer was working correctly. This should restore the Computer to the selected date and fix the issue.

The, alternative option is to use the Windows Installation Disc and perform the "Repair" option.

The issue will be fixed after you perform any of the above steps. To avoid the issue in future (whlie doing the Windows Update), please download and install the Windows Update 937287 from Microsoft Download Center separately.

Below is the link to obtain the Update.

Hope this helps..

Good Luck!

Thanks for using Fixya.

when you restart it , just press f8 so you will be taken to a screen where the first option will be safe mode, select it and it will hopefully log you in. Once you are logged in safe mode, anything you wanna do, and then shut down the computer. Start it again and this time let it boot normally. Hope this way will work

My hp laptop dosn't move in configuring 3 of 3 - 0%complete,and then it just switch of and on,and comes back to configuring 3 of 3 k 0% complete

Vista Update Stage 3 Stall……

You see Installing Updates Stage 3 of 3... 0% in Vista after you start or restart your computer and it never goes past 0%. Rebooting the computer doesn't change it. It still boots to Installing Windows updates 3 of 3 and never goes past that 0% mark. Sometimes Windows will even reboot in some cases. I have found that this often happens after Windows updates. I have no idea why, but this seems to be a fairly common occurrence. The last one I repaired was caused by a Service pack 1 installation.

Here's what I have done to fix the 3 of 3 error.

You will be doing a System Restore from the Vista f8 startup

Since the computer your working on is probably stuck on this screen the first step will be a hard shut down.

Hold the power button down until the computer shuts down.

Restart the computer.

Tap the f8 key about once or twice per second to get the Safe mode screen to come up.

In Windows Vista there is a new choice when the safe mode selection comes up. "Repair Your Computer"

Highlight the "Repair Your Computer" choice.

Windows will act like it is going t boot up.

You will see a System Recovery Options window.

It will ask you to choose your language.

Click Next

Select your user and put in your password. (leave blank if you don't have a password)

You should now have choices and the one you want is "System Restore"

Follow through the prompts with the Vista System Restore program.

Remember you should pick a restore point that is 1 or 2 points back.

Once you have completed the system restore process you will be asked to restart your computer. Go ahead and restart the computer. It should start correctly at this point. If you don't have a restore point available you may not be able to repair this error. I have not tried to repair one of these without a restore point yet.

After downloading home xp updates, the computer has failed to get out of completing stage 3 of 3 past 1 week always back to same screen

power on your computer and press F8 this will prompt you to boot from safe mode, then at safe mode, click on START-PROGRAM-ACESSORIES-SYSTEM TOOLS-SYSTEM RESTORE, here restore your computer to a date that it worked fine, this will make yousystem work fine but keep your doc intact no changes, then make sure you complete the update before installing as the first error was caused by uncompleted download. Good luck

try starting the computer in safe mode. As the computer boots keep pressing F8 until you hear a beep. The computer will or should start in safe mode, once it has everything will look big, don't worry about that for now, click on start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date for when you know the computer was working without any problems. Once the computer has restored it will shut down and reboot. When/if asked what mode you want to boot/start your computer choose start windows normally. I hope this helps.
