I have an ACER aspire one netbook model# A0A150. I think the cooling fan has quit because it keeps shutting down, plus I can't hear it running. How easy is it to repair and could I do it myself? I'm no pro but have built several kit computers that are still working today.
It shouldn't be that hard if you've done it before. netbooks are just so compact, so i suggest you keep track of where everything goes. Make sure you remove the fan and test it with a 9v battery to make sure that it's dead or not.
If it is just the fan then yes you can fix it yourself its just a matter of getting the computer open enough to where you can get to the fan. Then all you have to do is take out the old and install the new. No biggie. There are some cases however where components on the motherboard can cause the fan to stop running. This is pretty rare though. Fans are the easiest fix so I hope for your sake it is the fans. Sometimes if there is a lot of dust in the fan you can even get it to work just by cleaning the fan off.
