You may not have to do that just because it failed to boot doesn't always mean it's unrecoverable. You need to get a good HD testing programs, Get the Seagate, hard drive software. You could try to repair it, if you startup on your DVD you can try and repair your installation. Also there are some great tools such as. If you go to the web site below there are a few programs to download and try. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/collection/collid,1295-order,1-c,downloads/files.html

Also look here, maybe you'll get it done free?

You can recover the data by connecting this drive to another system or if you have windows operating system just install it choose the repair option. But first you connect this drive to another system as secondary drive and take the backup.
Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!

PXE-E61 ERROR

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.
First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Acer 5534 will not boot up....tried recovery disk....but nothing......error message PXE-E61-media test failure..........no bootable device

Hello:
Your Acer laptop is not detecting a bootable device, for sure your hard disk is:
1.- Malfunctioning and has lost its master boot record.
2.- It can be ruined and must be replaced.

In the first case, primary and recovery partition are bad, as you mention the recovery process failed (ctrl +F11). First, press F2 during POST, when "a enter Setup message" is prompted on the bottom of screen to check if the hard disk is listed on the Main BIOS properties. If detected, the hard disk can be recovered booting from DVD-ROM. In the BIOS setup utility, you need to select boot from de DVD-RW. Insert Windows 7 setup disk and it will check for possible boot errors, choose repair when prompted. Follow the instructions. The system will restart.
If the hard disk was not detected in BIOS properties, you should ask Acer for guarantee.
You may review this link for further information: http://www.acerlaptoprepairs.info/aspire-5534/
I hope this helps. Thanks

Why is it when i go to start my computer it doesnt wanna load windows, it says disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. My computer was working fine right before. can someone please tell me...

Hi, the computer is not detecting the hard drive or the hard drive is corrupt. At startup you are likely to hear a knocking sound if the hard drive is physically damaged. You can go to bios setup at startup ( could be F1 or Esc). Once there it should indicate if there is a harddrive or not. If it indicates none there the harddrive might have crashed and will need repalcing. I hope this helps.

Can't start windows

The issue you are having is that your computer is not seeing the harddrive or the boot drive. This could be a simple fix from the bios by telling the computer what device it needs to boot from which in this case is your hard drive.

You say that it did work and it was working how long ago was that? It also could be more serious in which you hard drive has crashed or exceeded its MTBF (which means "mean time before failure").
