Question about Televison & Video

How do I make the picture fill the width of the screen. I see a 16/9 and 4/3 buttons but they only make the picture taller, I need to make it wider. I have a Vidikron Kronos One projector.

I have owned this projector that is installed in my media room for ten years. The screen is a 96 inch screen I believe, and the picture used to fill the screen but recently perhaps on of my kids pushed a button on the remote because the picture fills the screen at top and bottom, but the left and right have about 12 inches on each side where the picture does not fill the screen.

The projector is hard mounted hanging from my media room cieling where it has been for ten years, the picture just recently went to the narrower size. I don't know if I have a zoom capacity - I was hoping you could help with that.

    Any other ideas?

I have cox digital cable, as well as dvd for wathcing dvd movies. The strange thing is the projected image has changed for both the dvd's as well as watching cable. For years the image has filled the screen, and now it is narrower than the full screen. Any other ideas. I thought perhaps a combination of buttons on the Vidikron remote may chage the projected image.

Hi,
You don't say what you have connected to it, but assuming you have sky, digi box or something similar; On your digi box (or sky, free sat etc) go into the settings menu and select the screen aspect selection menu and select the output you require (probably 16:9).

Hi adpb1
To answer your question;
Your projector is the c.r.t type meaning that there are three tubes inside.
If the 16/9 display doesn`t help and if you have no zoom functions then the only way to change the image size is to physically move the projector back until it fills your screen.

Hi,
Could you please give me more detail as to what you mean by make it wider. Is the picture currently using the width of the projected image? Have you used this projector before? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

Picture problem on panasonic Vierra plasma tv

It looks like you are saying standard definition pictures do not cover the screen like HD pictures do. Standard def is formatted 4:3 and high def is 16:9. They are not the same so your high def screen is made to display the not as tall but wider high def picture. In order to fill the screen with the taller and not as wide 4:3 aspect ratio std def picture you must tell the TV to stretch the picture or otherwise fill the screen. The TV will have controls you can exercise for this purpose and you can set it up to always show std def in a particular manner. The alternative, if you want the standard Def picture to look true to form, is to view standard def in Letter Box form. It's appearance will then include black panels on the sides of the picture. So the problem is not with the TV but in accepting older format pictures playing on newer format displays (TVs.)

The text along the sides of the tv screen are not completely in view

you need to change the 'zoom' on the tv by the remote.
Normal mode frames the 4:3 video to the 16:9 picture area by displaying it in its original aspect ratio, with vertical gray or black bars on both sides of the screen. The disadvantage of this method is the fact that the image is small by virtue of not using the entire width of the screen. This is also known as the 4:3 mode.
Full mode Full mode horizontally stretches the 4:3 video evenly across the entire width of the screen. This is the proper mode to display anamorphic video. If used for standard aspect ratio video, everything on the screen will appear wider than normal. Contrast this with anamorphic video displayed without processing on a 4:3 display, in which people on the screen will appear taller than normal. This is also known as the 16:9 mode.
Zoom mode Zoom mode evenly stretches the picture both horizontally and vertically, until the picture fills the entire width of the screen. This crops out the top and bottom of the picture. This mode is used for letterboxed and open matte video.
14:9 mode Main article: 14:9
In 14:9 mode, the picture is magnified more than in Normal mode, but less than in Zoom mode, while retaining the original aspect ratio.
Wide Zoom mode Wide Zoom mode, also called Just mode, Horizon, or Smart Stretch, progressively stretches the picture horizontally, less in the middle and more on the edges. This allows normal aspect ratio video to be displayed across the entire width of the screen, with minimal cropping, and with much less of the unpleasing visual stretching effect of Full mode.

How do I change it from wide screen to regular? I have a black area above and below the picture.

Hello
You can set the picture size by remote control itself.

You can vide 480i format programmes in three picture sizes. 4:3, 16:9, and ZOOM
You can change the picture size by pressing the PICTURE SIZE button on the remote control.
4:3 Picutre size
To fill the screen, the top and bottom edges are extedted more widely, although the center of the picture remains near the former ratio.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image size is displayed in its originally formatted proportion.
16:9 picure size
This image displays the size of standard 16:9 with black bars at the top and bottom.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image is displayed with black bars at the top and bottom and stretched wider.

NOTE: If a fixed bar remains on the screen for a long period of time, the image can become parmanantly engrained in the screen and cause subtle but permanent ghost images. Never leave your TV for long periods of time while it is displaying these images.

Zoom picture size [for 16:9 formats]
The entire picture is uniformly enlarged --it is stretched the same amount both wider and taller (retains its original proportion). The right and left edges of the picture may be hidden.
OK.

My Mitsubishi Chariot Grandis GDI, V6 Royal N86W came with tyres 205/65/15. I am getting difficult driving the car in our african bumped roads. Which size can i replace with.

205 is the width in mm. 65 is the hight of the sidewall (.65x205=133.25mm)65 percent of the with. 15 is the diamater in inches of the rim (tire hole) for example if you keep the same rims 205 75 15 would be the same width but slightly taller.
215 65 15 is wider and taller as 65% of 215 is 139.75 millimeters. if you go to 16 or 17 inch rims u can get much bigger. the width of the tire must not rub on the insides of the fenders. the hight must not contact the top of fender taking in consideration the suspension. u can look for car clubs of that model and chat with the members.

Bigger tyre

The Bridgestone Excedra tire for the Suzuki C109RT is a 240/55-16 which may be a little taller than stock. There are only three motorcycle tires that will fit the Rocket III Standard and Classic, as baggage1 stated. The Metzeler ME88 Marathon 240/50-16, the Avon Cobra 240/50-16, and the Bridgestone above. I haven't found the Bridgestone commercially available yet, but you may check with a Suzuki dealer. The only other choice is the dark side.. car tires.. Which do work very well.
