I recently had to replace the battery in my 2001 model Holden Astra, which I bought three months ago from a local dealer. It came with all the books and manuals...but without the security code card for stereo system and since disconnecting the battery the stereo has been out of action. HELP! The system is a Blaupunkt 520; however more info may be required. Your help with this would be just great, pleases let me know if more details are required. Cheers, Cath

I have a 2000 holden jackaroo which has a blaupunkt 2020 audio, I had some work done recently which resulted in my stereo not working, not having the code I enquired at a holden dealer and they were more than happy to give me the code after i produced my rego papers, apparently the code is kept on computer, only thing is my code wouldn't work, so it was back to the dealer and after explaining the code wouldn't work they said I would have to book it in so they can hook their computer to the stereo, of course I will have to pay, sounds like a scam to me

Radio P.I.N. (Personal Identification Number)
Your PIN. must be entered if the battery is disconnected. The P.I.N. is shown on the
security card that was originally in the glovebox of the new car. Please keep the card in
a safe but accessible place (not in your car), as this safety feature is provided as a theft
To enter the P.l.N.:
•turn ignition to accessories and turn radio on ("1" or "CdE 1" appears),
•press the radio buttons in your P.I.N. order,
•the radio will shortly begin to play.
If an incorrect P.I.N. is entered the number "2" or "CdE 2" appears on the display.
Following three incorrect P.l.N.s the display shows" - - - ", and the radio must remain
connected to power for approx. one hour before the correct P.I.N. can be entered.
Therefore, if your car repair requires battery disconnection you may wish to provide the
servicing dealer with your PIN.
If the P.I.N. number is XXXX, contact your Holden Dealer. He will require proof of
ownership and the Vehicle Identification Number shown on the inside front cover of this
handbook. There may be a nominal charge for this service.
First make sure that the code has not been noted somewhere within the car (underneath the ash tray, glove box , rear of sun visor etc)
To see if your code is available here for free then the radio will have to be removed from the dashboard (and if you are lucky, someone may have written the code on the casing ) .
If not then POST ANOTHER QUESTION
quoting the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING
note: Unfortunately not all radios can be decoded using the Serial Number
If not then try your Main Dealer ...........or take it into a Decode Service who will plug in a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM). This takes a few minutes and shouldn`t be too expensive ================================================= Here is a video showing how to remove your radio from the dashboard. A pair of extractors are required (available from Ebay , etc) but these can be made from 2 pieces of bent, wire coat-hanger or 4 small drills(using the blunt end) or 4 small Allen Keys or 4 small screwdrivers or 4 nails or even 4 darts.
An assistant is useful to pull the radio out whilst you are releasing the 4 securing clips
NO if your amp is good any battery will turn it on. changing batterys does not require a reprogram?. id say amp is damaged from being wet. test to see if power is going in and out if nothing out bad amp..
I've had to remove many damaged lock cylinders, and the best way is to drill it out. if you can dig out most of the pins with the drill bit and maybe a screwdriver, you should be able to turn it to push in the lock pin and remove, or drill through to where the lock pin goes and pull it out from the inside. DO NOT drill too far, though, or else you may have to replace a lot more than you want to. Hope this helps.
