Question about Televison & Video
If it is a black box in the middle of the screen it is caused by one of two things:
1) In the customer menu under closed captions SCROLL through the options and make sure TEXT is not highlighted---text was designed so written material could be broadcast but it never really took off--if text is highlighted simply choose either OFF or something other than Text 1 (there are usually text 1-4 available but text one should be the only active one).
2) If you are using a cable or satellite box it may have the same option in its menu----the text box could be coming either from the TV or from the Box that is giving it signal.
Usually the box will only appear on certain channels like PBS---if you see it on some channels but not others it will likely be the setting in the set---if on all channels more likely from the box.
Let me know what you find.
