Question about Hotpoint WMA46 Front Load Washer
My machine carried out a cycle fine with no problems but when we put the 2nd load of washing on, the machine filled but would not move.
Desperately trying to avoid having to buy a new machine - please help.
Too empty your machine reset the programmer to Final spin. the machine should empty normally.
If you have a fast flashing light its most likely to be 1 of 2 things.
1. The belt from the motor has broken. (price for belt is less than 20 pounds.)
2. The brushes in the motor have worn down too much to make the drum turn. Look underneath the washing machine to see if black power (Carbon) is deposited under the motor.
(Price for set of brushes is less than 20 pounds)
Labour should be no more than half an hour by anyone decent.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
When the washer fills but does not agitate or spin then you can check if the lid switch is fine. You can jump start the lid switch by connecting both the wires with each other or use the third wire to act as jumper between the two. After this if the problem is solved then replacing lid switch is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
