Question about Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera

The lens cover doesn't open fully Canon A630

The lens cover doesn't open fully when turning on. You have to manually push the top part up but still doesn't stay completely up. Worth fixing?

it is working somewhat better but now when you power off the camera the top right portion of the lens cover pops down over the bottom portion of the cover.

Sure it is, and repair isn't that hard. See this link for tips on repair of sticky automatic lens covers. Recommend reading the reader's comments section of the link for additional tips. Especially pay attention to the vacuum cleaner tip.

I don't know how to open the battery door for the

Slide the latch in the center of the battery cover toward the front of the lens, then flip open the cover. It's hinged toward the center of the body, so it flips open in that direction.

There's an illustration in the "Preparations" section of the Basic manual (page 5 in my copy). If you need manuals, you can download them from

Foldable lens cover doesn' t open and closed fully... Thanks.

It's usually merely a grain of sand or dust jamming it. But it's also usually easy to fix. This link outlines repair techniques for a stuck automatic lens cover. Recommend trying the less "risky" ones first before considering the end of the lens.

Lens cover will not open

easy fix. yo turn it on and then very lightly tap the lens cover or push it out. then you should clean the lens because the dirt or dust on the lens is stopping the lens cover.

Canon lens cover won't open

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Lens cover won't open when Canon Powershot A520 Camera turned on

I have two Canon Power shots---the A610, and the A630. The lens cover is starting to hang on my 630 when the lens retracts.

If the lens is extended, take your fingertip and try to move the cover a bit to see if it springs open. If not, then the mechanism within the lens needs to be replaced.

Canon makes a great camera, and I would tell you to try to have it fixed if it costs less than 75 dollars. At 75-100 dollars it's a toss-up. More than a 100 dollars---it's your call.
