Ice on the back of freezer wall.

Hi Marcus,

It appears from your issue stated you have a defrost problem. You will need to gain access into the freezer compartment, remove all the ice, and most likely replace the thermostat located on the inlet tubbing within the freezer section. Of course if all the ice is in the evaporator only. If only on the bottom of the freezer, you would need to only clear the ice away, and use hot water to clear the drain system.

Good luck, feel free to ask more questions, glad to assist if needed.

Sometimes water is flooding to the bottom of the refrigerator.. I know the drain hose is stopped up. I found one end at the bottom in the back. However I can't locate the drain in the freezer to blow out...

The drain is behind the panel inside the back of the freezer. It is under the coil. You may need to run hot water through the drain line to defrost it before you can blow it out. Good luck

Another refrigerator with same problem

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall.
Inspect the drain line and drain pan.
The drain line comes down the back of the box and into the drain pan on top of the compressor.
The drain line may have a crack in it or may be missing the pan.
The drain pan may have a hole in it.

My Roper refrigerator collects water in both vegetable bins. Help!

Remove the food and the ice maker from the freezer ( if equiped ) . Remove the rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , below the coils , defrosting , until you see the drain hole . Use hot water to help defrost the hole . Once water starts going thru the hole , use a small hose inserted into the hole , and blow thru , to remove any unseen debris in the drain line . Use an ALUMINUM solid wire , 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) , above the hole . When refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer from the heater , to the wire , keeping the hole from freezing up again .

Roper fridge problem

Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.
  • if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.

Clogged defrost drain tube

You can access the drain tube from the back of the refrigerator. There is normally a trap located after the drain line exits the freezer compartment. Clean out the trap and it may solve your problem.
