Start button not working. Is there a alternate keystroke to bypass it?

Just to be clear. This is a membrane keypad, not a "switch". I ran the Membrane Keypad Utility and it determined the start button is faulty. I can also run sub-systems like the blower, motor and heater. Does this cause you to think of some other possibilities?

Hi,
The only way to bypass it is a bit dangerous...
You can take the the panel apart and monetarily jumper the wires on the start button... this will get it going for you..
Just be very careful the voltages there could kill you!!

No unfortunately there is no alternate keystroke to bypass the start switch. It is actually not very common for the start switch to go bad. You could remove the back panel and if the start switch only has two wires going to it you could actually wire them together. If the dryer starts and runs then you know its a bad start switch.

The most common cause of a dead maytag dryer would be a blown thermal fuse. It is located on your blower housing.

I would also check to make sure your breaker is not tripped and you are getting 240v to the dryer.

Hope this helps _MJ_

Ok im sorry I was under the impression that it was an actual switch. The fact that the motor and heater can be ran in test mode would indicate that your relay on the control board must be closing to send the voltage down to the components. So I would assume it is a faulty touchpad or control board. I ran the model number through our database at work to see if the repair manual mentioned any alternate keypad dance to run the dryer and It did not mention it at all. Unfortunately its probably the same tech sheet that you had to put in into Manual-op mode. Sorry but unfortunately I think your going to have to replace the console assy which comes with a membrane pad. Its part# is 31001658 and its a VERY expensive part. The MSRP is $344.54 so I would definitely make sure that its bad before you replace it. If It has a ribbon you could run continuity tests on each side of the ribbon cable to make sure there is no break.
One other random thing you can try is unplugging the unit and taking the power cord and grounding the two terminals to the chassis of the unit this will bleed any static out of the boards capacitors. Plug it back in a give it a try. This has worked for me on units that would not go into diagnostic mode.

    Good Luck _MJ_

Dv7-1023cl problems with quick touch buttons

You don't need to activate the drivers. if you reinstalled them then they are there and should be working.

There should be alternate methods to using the quick touch keys, such as using the conventional methods.

For example to change your volume, just click on the megaphone at the bottom right near the time and adjust the volume. Or click Start/Control Panel and look for Audio or Sound and adjust the volume. Also click Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment and see if there is a volume control there. Also normally you can adjust the volume by keystrokes. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key near the bottom left portion of the keyboard and press the volume keys (there should be 3 volume keys, volume up, volume down and volume mute).

As for the Wireless there is a switch on the side or in the front of the laptop that controls the wireless. Also there are keystrokes that can toggle it off or on once the wireless switch is on. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have the icon of a wireless signal )))) or it will have the icon of a tower with a wireless signal )))).

Having trouble programing my extreme 3d pro joystick and FSX deluxe. I am using Vista. I can't get the elevator trim up/down to work. Doesn't even seam to work when i press 7 or 1 on the...

I would first of recommend doing a calibration of your joystick. To do that, make sure your joystick is connected to your computer and go to your start menu>>devices and printers. Once your window pops up, find your joystick and right click on the icon, and go to settings. You can find the calibration wizard there. Once that is done, open up your Flight Simulator X, and go to the settings tab. Along the right hand side, click on controls. From there you can configure your joystick buttons to whichever action you like. Please keep in mind as well when your are adjusting the elevator trim, rudder trim, that the adjustments made from one keystroke, or button push, are very very small adjustments. You can change that by moving the slider on the Repeat column, thereby making one keystroke or button push equal to multiple taps!

Headlight went out - both beams. where is the fuse for this to check first?

Hi and welcome to the site,

Consider an alternate suspect. There is a hidden bypass switch for the headlight activated by the start button switch. Check, clean with WD40 the inside of the start button switch.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Logitech LX8 Mouse back button quit working on AOL

This has been a long time problem with Logitech and Aol. If your mouse software allows you to edit your mouse buttons, change the back button to "keystroke" and enter the back arrow key on your keyboard as the command. Alt left arrow also works. While you don't appear to have a forward button, Aol users who do, would change it to "keystroke"...Alt right arrow.

This is directly from Logitech:http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/
"Logitech MouseWare Software:
1. Right click on the Logitech white mouse icon in the System Tray and select "Mouse Properties".
2. Click on the "Buttons" tab and your pointing device should be shown. If you have more that one mouse connected, select the mouse you wish to program by clicking on the "Devices" tab, and select the mouse you wish to program from the drop down menu, then go back to the "Buttons" tab.
3. Scroll down the list of buttons and select the button you wish to program, and click on the function to highlight it.
4. Now click on the "Modify" button. A "Modify Button Function" box will appear with a drop down menu. Select the button assignment you wish to use and click the "OK" button. Now click the "Apply" button to save your changes.
Using the "Keystroke" button assignment.
If the button assignment or keyboard command you want is not listed under the button assignments, you may want to use the "Keystroke" button assignment. Using the MouseWare steps above select Keystroke under Step 3. The "Keystroke Assignment" box appears. Click your mouse cursor into the box that states "Unassigned". Now press the key or combination of keys you wish to use and click the "OK" button. The function should now be displayed in the current list of button assignments. Click the "Apply" button then the "OK" button."
Hopefully this will help. Please let me know if it doesn't.

Monitor

The Ctrl-Alt-Direction key sequence is supposed to be used for changing your workspace. On my computer at work it changes the screen orientation.
Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up
Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees
Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees
(If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl-Shift-R)
This is a feature in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Which makes sense. But it looks like ATI Intel copied the keystroke for the same “feature” in their video card drivers. I can’t think of a good reason why I would need an always-on keystroke for this on a desktop PC.
When creating a keystroke-mapped feature that only 1% of your customers will want to use and the other 99%[1] are going to be confused by, put in a menu option to disable it and have it disabled by default.
To fix the issue press Ctrl-Alt-Up. To permanently fix the problem go to:
Start >> Control Panel >> Display >> Settings >> Advanced
Where it is after that it dependent upon your video card.
