Question about Sony STR-DA3400ES Receiver

1 Answer

I recently bought a sony str-da3400es reciever June 09, which I used to control my krell ksa 100 and my carver cimema grand, two weeks ago I turned on my system lo and behold a loud hum, after disconnecting each component I traced the hum back to the preamp of the reciever. What strange is when I connect everything to the reciever there is no hum.

There is a ground loop in your system. This occurs when not all of the grounds in a system are at an equal potential.

When i turn the volume up from my sony receiver strda3400es de protection comes in. By lower volumes it works ok.

Hello
Measure load resistance. That is the output connected resistance. If it is too low than normal this type of protection will be activated. Measure the impedence [resistance] of speakers connected to the output. It must be more than 4 ohms/channel effectively. OK.

Low sound at high volume

Hi,

THe problem is with the variable resistor present behind your volume control knob, try replacing the volume controls variable resistor, this must work fine... this is a common prblem for all the music equipment that has knob control for the volume....

This resistor can be replaced with your product warranty, contact your seller for the details regarding warranty...No need to woory about this, this is a sommon problem for most of recievers

Can't get Playstation3 sound through the STR-DG800 using HMDI.

Do you have your ps3 connected to the TV with HDMI and then audo cables from the TV to the receiver? If so, you need to make sure you change the audio settings on your TV to surround sound.
