Question about Sony VAIO VGN-NR430E/S NoteBook

2 Answers

I have a Sony VGN NR430D/S and after a year's use, the laptop will not boot or start when the power button is pressed. It started when after I used it, I clicked on the SLEEP button instead of switch off or power off on the VISTA OS. Is this an electronics or software issue. Is there a workable solution for this now?

More info Does it startup when powered completely off, if so then disable the sleep mode in control panel / power options, change all settings to "always on"

Remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. put the battery back in and try to start it. if it still won't boot up, it may be a hardware issue.

You can either try to spam the F12 button upon start-up to directly select which device to boot from, or either F4 or Delete are the typical keys used to get into the BIOS and you can change the boot order from there to automatically select a CD drive device if it ever detects one.

Remove the battery and try to start it up with the AC power. If it's not working, after you try to boot up and the lights are on, press the power button for several seconds (10-15) and it should go off. Press the power button again and it should start.

Sony Vaio VGN SZ491N doesn't start or boot. No lights no noises. Tried holding start button 10 seconds, tested power supplies (OK on other machines), been having a problem with the battery being loose...

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. The DC jack might be loose or broken. It might need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad
.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

Sony vaio vgn-fs8900p isn't booting

Most likely your hard drive has gone bad. It could be your RAM too. I know that you said you checked your ram one stick at a time. What if both sticks are bad? I would get some cheap (low MBs) sticks of ram that are compatible with your computer to see if your computer will start to run right with those in.

Laptop will not boot, Sony Vaio VGN CR220E, lights come on, don't hear the Hard drive start up, however. I get the clunks from the CD drive, but that's all.

Hi,
Such problems happen when you have either faulty RAM or faulty Mother Board. Repairing MotherBoard Chip is a costly affair but replacing RAM is convenient and most probable solution.
