One important note to be aware of Polarity. DC connections are Positive + and Negative -. RED/Black and/or White wires. Yellow is usually Video. Do not Reverse the polarity as this can cause mismatches and/or short circuits. Disconnect your attached wires and re-attach them correctly and firmly. Wires must be set into or onto the posts or connection points correctly by + or - and they may not touch one another. Check the Reset or Fuse on the amp and make certain you have full power.
If you fail to polarize correctly, you could damage the speakers moreso than the Amp.

How to wire the tuner and amp what wires do i need to get it to work

In most cases, you need a pair of Red/White RCA cables. Connect one set of ends (1 red + 1 white) to the external tuner's output and the other (white + red) to the input on the Amp.

Then you need double stranded wire to connect the speakers to the amp. one x double stranded wire for each speaker. You can use electrical cord from the hardware store (e.g. 18 gauge wire) or you can buy some speaker wire (16 to 20 gauge - use lower number wire (thicker) for higher power amp). 16 to 18 gauge wire for a 100 watt per channel amp if your speakers are less than 15 feet from the amp (wires are less than 15 feet long). If longer than 15 feet, use the 16 gauge wire. You can use 18 gauge for most anything else.

Hello Fixya Guru ! I am in the process of installing several Marley PLF series 2000 watt/ 240 volt electric "Hydronic" baseboard heaters. I am using 10/3 bx with a 30amp breaker. To my...

You are correct that these heaters use a two-wire 240 volt supply, and the neutral is not needed.

2000 watts = 240 volt x Amps ==> Amps = 8.3 amps

30 amps x .8 safety factor = 24 amps

24 amps / 8.3 amps = 2.9 heaters per 30 amp breaker (3 heaters should be okay)

More info, pls let me know.

Charlie

P.S. Where does the 2880-watt number come from ?

P.P.S. There has to be a ground bus-bar in the panel -- if it's a main panel (not a sub-panel) the ground buss and the neutral buss are connected in the panel. Could you clarify what you have in the panel.

I have a craig powerplay amplifier model # V 502 48 watt. i need wiring schematic.can you help ?

From left to right your connections will be as follows:
BATT: 1x solid (at least 4mm in thickness) wire directly connected to your car battery positive(+).
GND: Will be an earth wire of the same thickness connected to any section on your vehicles body (chassis). Even a seatbelt bolt will do.
P.CON(REMOTE) will be the remote wire coming from your radio (normally blue or orange in colour).
The speaker connections are pretty straight forward unless you are going to connect subwoofers.

At the back:
FILTER: leave off unless you are going to run subwoofers
OPERATION: Leave it on sterio unless you are going to run subwoofers
LINE IN: Will be RCA cables coming from your radio
SPEAKER LEVEL INPUT: is for connection if your radio does not support RCA jacks
Please feel free to ask about anything you are unsure about. I hope this helps and solves your problem

Thumping speakers - no power light is on - wired correctly

the amp is going into protect mode due to something wrong in the amp or some thing in the wiring to it ooh yea if you are getting 18v power to the amp that is way to high it should not be higher then 15v if the amp is in protect mode it will not play at all.

Metrik mac-505

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

VR 200 Watt amp

Disconnect the wire from the remote turn-on terminal of the amp and insulate it so that is can not make contact with anything.

With the wire disconnected, does the amp remain on?
