Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

ALL functions running in super slow motion

Hi,
I recently went to install my 6110 on my PC with the included drivers, something I've done many times before. While printing a b/w word doc, it took almost 5 minutes! Something that normally takes 7seconds to complete!

Here are some things I've done:

1. Disconnected the USB cable and printed a test page from the front lcd panel. I got the same results as printing from the PC.

2. Reset to the factory defaults from the lcd panel. No changes.

3. Performed a full reset. No changes.

4. Did a POR. It took almost two minutes to start up! The word "Initializing" remained on the lcd for most of this time.

5. entered a sheet into the top feeder, pressed "Black copy" and got the same results: a very slow copy.

The printer is operating in steps. It will take in a sheet. wait 25 sec. print a line. wait 25 sec. print another line. wait 25 sec. and so on. I'm not an expert with printers but it seems to me that there may be a read/write delay between the printer MCU and printer memory??? What do you guys think? I think I'm hosed.

I have an HP 6110xi and is printer in very slow motion. I read that a #9 (Full Reset) may help. How exactly do I do a #9 (Full Reset?

  • robghall Feb 02, 2009

I've had exactly the same experience. As best I can tell, this new "super slow printing" behaviour started when I replaced the black print cartridge (#56). Thinking it might be the cartridge itself, I have since tried replacing it again both with another new one and with the original (virtually empty) one. The printing is just incredibly slow with all of them.
I can't find any instructions on how to do a #9 (full reset). Can anyone advise?

Have you tried doing a total uninstall of the HP software, then going to the HP website and downloading and installing the PRINTER DRIVER ONLY, instead of the full software bundle.

Do you still have the MB CD with all the drivers still with you, if so then run that CD once. Secondly soundmax has many versions running so look for the driver that was released during the time you bought your PC. Many a time you got to manually add the hardware and then its driver for it to function properly....................sodeep

I think the BIOS might be fried on the motherboard and thats causing the no video then. It would need to be replaced. Let me know the exact model and I can verify for you if the correct BIOS was installed so at least you can know for sure about that.

Comp doesnt boot after installing USB 2 drivers

Hi rogueonline,

Disconnect the external drive from the PC. (It's possible windows registry is messed up).
It sound like your windows system is a bit confused as well. First try resetting the bios. See page 9 in your manual. (Don't forget to set it back to normal). This should allow you to get back into the bios. Go over each setting & adjust as needed.
Make sure your primary hard disk drive is listed in the boot order. Advanced Setup Page 30, in manual. If your windows operating system seem is a bit off (OS not installed correctly or driver software not installed correctly). The over-all function of the system can & will run slow. If your primary drive seem to also run slow, the FAT or MBR can be slightly corrupt which will also slow the drive down including file transfer & eventually the drive will cease to function. (The drive can be repaired by doing a full format through windows).
Do a fresh install of windows, including the full format, (Not a Quick format) on the primary drive. Even though ECS does include the USB 2.0 driver so does windows update service. If your windows was all ready updated & you re-installed ECS's (2003) USB driver, that may have been enough to screw up windows. If you have data on your current drive & need to get that data off & if you have access to another system you can pull your drive & slave it into another system & remove the data. There is no quick fix. Play it safe. Start from scratch. After windows has been installed & you install the ECS driver software, update windows until there are no updates left. I'm sure your system will regain its speed.
Link to ECS web site for P4VMM2 V3.2A .

Good luck ogueonline!

Pc is running really slow

here are some tips:
  1. Ensure that you hard drive has at least 20% of the hard drive available as free space.
  2. Defragment the hard drive
  3. Ensure that in System Properties, Advanced, Performance, settings, Advanced tab, Virtual memory. Ensure that System managed is selected.
  4. System Properties, Advanced, Performance, settings, Visual Effects, Select adjust for best performance
  5. Start, Run, MSCONFIG, Startup tab, uncheck items that you do not need to run at startup. Items to leave include Antivirus, and printer settings. Items like quicktime, adobe kodak etc can usually be disabled without losing functionality. If you uncheck an item and reboot and lose a needed function, you can go back and re-check it.
