OK - so I've taken mine apart to see what may be causing this. The problem is most likely that you put the camera back together with the power switch set to off. In this position the metal slider that activates the power switch touches the fragile plastic tongue of the actual power switch and will sheer it off when the case is pressed together. However, the slider won't touch it when the camera power switch is moved to its 'on' position during re-assembly.There is no easy fix other than to either replace the module containing the switch or if you're a tinkerer de-solder and disassemble the switch and refashion the tongue that depresses the micro-switch by using maybe a piece of nylon from a small tie string (Ty-wrap) or alike. It's a fairly small switch, however. Finally, perhaps you could obtain a replacement switch from the manufacturer or an electronics supplier. By default, this switch will be on so removing it from the cradle should turn the camera on and inserting into the cradle should turn it off. So, if you can find a free or cheap cradle connector you could use it as a makeshift power switch or you can always bring the cradle along to turn it on - the camera's power timeout will then turn it off automatically ;) Hope this helps.

it probably happened to me, although I couldn't find the broken piece; however, if by default the switch is on, why the camera wouldn't turn on when assembled? anyways, thanks!

You probably didn't connect the ribbon correct. When you take off the back of the camera, there's a ribbon connecting the back to the rest of the camera. The ribbon is fixed with a tiny lock. Check that the lock is in place and locked.

My fujifilm finepix s5200 power switch is extremely hard to turn on. Any suggestions?

Before you take it apart, go to Radio Shack and pick up a can of electrical contact cleaner & lube. This may dislodge some crud and lube the switch, thereby loosening it up.

Fuji Finepix F450 broken LCD

Possibly search ebay for broken cameras of the same make or replacement parts. Fuji's contact center may sell parts or possibly fix your camera for free.

Screen dark

I have 2 of these I got at a yard sale and both had the dim screen
problem.I took 1 apart and everything looked fine.Put it back
together and put it back on the cradle and still did not work TILL I
squeezed down on the connection to the cradle and the radio. It lit up fine.Same with the other one.Its the bottom connection in the
radio that is worn from taking it in and out of the cradle all the time.
My XM radio had the same problem but it was the power cord that
wore out from taking the radio out every night and it powered up eratically like it was shorting out.Try squeezing it down on the
cradle and see what happens.

Either the connectors have something in them like food or alot of dust or something laying in the cradle that is keeping the contacts from touching the phone contacts. Look in the cradle to see if there is something in the way, If that dont work, make sure the power socket is good by plugging something else in the outlet just to be positive it is hot, if it still won't charge then the plug on the cradle is bad or torn off inside. If you are a wizard you could fix it but if you are not inclined to tear things apart and out them back together don't try it. Good Luck...

Wont turn on

These units seem to be suffering from a bad connection on the inside of the unit. My wife's did the same thing. There was a connection inside that wasn't making contact. First try cleaning the 4 brass connection tabs on the watch and check your charger to make sure the tabs are raised and not squished. Second try to reset the unit. Hit mode reset and power buttons all at the same time. Hold these for 3 seconds and then release. If these do not work here is what I did. There are no screws holding the unit together. I used a exacto blade to very carefully pry the unit apart along the side seam. It's not easy to do. Be very cautious and gentle. Work the thickness of the blade into the joint to gently wedge apart. You are not trying to remove material! Once apart you will see some fingers that make a connection between the upper and lower part of the unit. This is where the problem was with my wife's 305. I gently raised these tabs to make a better connection, It's been working ever since. I didn't try it before but try pressing very hard on the unit where it says Forerunner 305. The case is very hard so it might not work. But if it powers up when pushing you found your problem. Hope this helps. Here is a link I found on opening a 205 (Same process) http://ctorunner.googlepages.com/dismantleforerunner205 To put the unit back together use Automotive silicon/gasket maker. Use a tooth pick to put a VERY small amount of silicon around the entire seam. Put the two half's together and wrap tightly with electrical tape. Test the unit immediately to see if it powers on and off. If it does not open it back up and raise the small prongs that make the connection from the bottom half to the top half. If any silicon squishes out the sides wipe with water and a rag. Let the unit sit over night. In the morning remove the tape.
