Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset key for 15 seconds with power on. Then you'll be able to use the default IP address and password as described previously. Also, the wireless will default to no encryption, so you're all set.

Type into your browser (into the address bar). That is it's default IP. You should be able to change the settings there.

->Download the manual from the router website and find the username and password,if you don't no the default password. Then reset the router to go for default login.

->Most d-Link routers have the IP address of login using username and password.
->After login select "Manual Wireless Network Setup" from setup tab.
->Your basic wireless network settings are in this screen. First, give your wireless router a name that you can recognize it by. Secondly, select a type of Security Mode. WEP-Personal should be efficient for most people's usages. After that is selected a new window at the bottom appears.Type your password in the Pre-Shared Key, scroll to the top and hit save, and that's all there is to it.

Are you trying to add a new computer to the existing network ?
I assume you have the router working.
is it a wireless computer or the wired computer?
I believe the main computer is online.
Check the settings on the router.
You will need to open the router set up page.
here you will see the settings of the router.
If you are trying to connect to the wireless network then make sure that you are typing the correct network key.

How do i secure my dir-615 router

1. Log into the router by typing in the address bar of your browser.
2. User admin for the username and leave the password blank (unless you have changed the username and password, if so use your custom settings)
3. Next run the security security wizard: Click Setup at the top then click Launch Wireless Security Setup Wizard.
4. It will take you step by step to set up a secure wireless network.

I would also suggest you change the router password while your in there to prevent others from accessing your router using the default setting if you have not already changed it.

You can download the user manual for the router at:

First can I clarify what is meant by a ‘lost password’ …. The original poster here is asking about the password needed to login to the router configuration pages.

If you know the password to login to the router configuration pages, you can still get access to the network key (also known as passphrase, WPA or WEP key, PSK, pre-shared key) – which is the key Windows asks for to connect a new computer to the network. It will be found under a heading like ‘Wireless Security’ or ‘Wireless Settings’ within the router configuration pages. For this model, you can find the router configuration pages by typing (or .com) into a web browser, or

If you don’t know the username/password to login to your router, try using the defaults – for this model, they are admin and password.

However, if the router login username/password has been forgotten, the only way to regain access to the router configuration settings is to reset the router, as described in my posting above. I don’t know of any shortcuts to this one. :(

If you have to resort to this, you might want to wait for whoever set up the router to help with this. This is because resetting the router will remove all your settings – password, network key, ISP connection info – so you will lose your internet connection altogether until it is set up again.

On the other hand, if you’re willing to spend some time and patience, you can have a go yourself.

If you have your original setup CD this may contain a software wizard to walk you through it. If not, you might be able to download a setup wizard from the router manufacturer’s website, along with a quick installation guide (and a manual).

The Netgear site also has very clear troubleshooting and support pages which will help with setup, even if you don’t have any setup software:

Make sure you use a wired connection. Also, print off all the information you need before you begin, as you will not be able to access the internet while you are setting up the router.
Good luck whatever you decide to do
