Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

The manual for the indoor units says MSZ-A09NA or A15NA or A12NA or A17 NA. The left indicator (green) light is blinking and I have no heat. I have tried switching the breaker on and off and I have tried the emergency operation for heat and I still end up with the same situation.

I used the remote to turn on one unit and the left indicator light blinked once per second for about 3 minutes, so I stopped counting. I can't see that option in them manual. The outdoor model is MXZ-3A30NA; I didn't notice the header on my request for help that listed different model number until it was too late to correct it. This problem began when I went out to the condenser to remove snow around it (we have a blizzard). The fan stopped while I was out there, started very briefly without the same oomph, then stopped. It doesn't seem to be ice- or snow-bound. I may have tilted the condenser when I climbed over it, but I've got it level again, at least on one side.

Hi,
The green blinking light is telling you a code to tell you what is wrong with your unit. To figure out the code you need to time the blinks and how many...
To decipher the code then you need this service manual..

The troubleshooting part of the manual starts on page 22 you can download the manual and then figure out what is going on with your unit.

    Hi,

A few more things that you can do and check...

Make sure that the outdoor fan is free and can turn easily.

Remove the power from the outdoor unit for a few minutes and then restore the power and see if it comes on..

In moving the unit, you may have a wire that came off at the outdoor unit. This seems unlikely because you have power on the indoor unit and that power comes from the outdoor unit. However there is one wire that is just communication to the indoor unit and if that wire happeneed to come loose then you would being having your problems...

These units are usually super dependable, so I agree with you athat whatever happened probably was weather related.

Hi, it sounds like you may have lost the blower motor due to the power surge. Normally, it would kick the breaker off.The code is just telling you something is not right as you know. You can try turning off the breaker to the indoor unit for 10 minutes or so, and reset it to see if the blower will start. If you have the manual, that might tell you what the code or light is. Its more then likely a 220 volt indoor unit. Sometimes on a double pole breaker, only one half of it will trip in a power surge. Check to see if this is the case, as you may only be getting 120 volts to run the vanes. If its half way tripped, turn it off hard, and back on hard. that may be your problem. If not, call the service tech, and just tell him it stopped working. He will come out at know charge to you. I bet its your breaker though. Please let me know.
Sincerely,

We have a msz-ga80va split cycle, indoor unit runs for about 5 minutes without cooling then cuts out, outside unit doesn't kick in at all

Just had the same thing happen to us with the same model (right on Xmas day).
Checked the circuit breaker is on in the fuse box. Power is on to the external unit. Filters are clean.
Internal unit activates... both indicator lights on. After 5 minutes blowing air it stops and the right indicator light goes out and the left indicator light blinks constantly.
The troubleshooting guide inside the internal unit (under the outer cover you open to clean the filters) suggests that 14 blinks is an abnormality with the external unit and refer to service manual.
Think we'll be calling a technician.
