Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

2 Answers

I have a swingline electric stapler model 211xx with the clear cover. It won't staple and when I opened the staple tray it didn't open smoothly. I don't know how the previous owner did it but it looks like they somehow put staples in behind the staple barrier. Can I take this apart somehow to get those staples out. Does the cover come off. Do you have a manual for this model? I got it at a garage sale and am really bummed that I can't fix it.

I unscrewed the bottom screws. It just exposes some wires underneath. It has nothing to do with removing the clear plastic top.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. I have been digging for 2 days through swingline and numerous other sites sites and now understand your quest for the manual.

After all the research to find you a manual the only thing I can recommend is that you visit a "Staples" Office Supply store and look for this item and ask for a copy of the user's manual or to borrow the manual to have it copied:

Item 642470 Model 21101 http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesSearch?errorUrl=zipcode&storeId=10001&searchkey=Swingline+Compact+Electric+Stapler&jspStoreDir=Staples&zipCode=92173&ts=1265655429363&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&ddkey=StaplesZipCodeAdd This is the best I can do for you from here. Hi,

You have to unscrew the four bottom screws to lift the cover.

Check this site to see how the electric stapler works…

Swingline Optima 45 Stapler - cannot slide tray back in stapler, no staples jamming

Sometimes the rectangular insert where the staples sit on, gets dislodged. On the underside of channel insert is a spring and when correctly seated is in between the tabs of the bottom piece. If the insert isn't in between the tabs, it sits too high and makes it difficult to open and close the staple tray. The staples will jam.

Swingline optima 40 how do you open and close the stapler?

Swingline heavy duty staplers provide the power to staple up to 120 pages of 20-lb. paper easily and consistently. The all-metal construction of these staplers makes them an indispensible office tool. However, the way to load staples into a Swingline heavy duty stapler differs from the method for loading most other manual staplers and can cause a little confusion.
Difficulty:Easy Instructions

    • 1 Remove the follow block at the back of the stapler by pushing the mechanism in, lifting the block up over the holding hooks and sliding it out from the stapler. The follow block is the spring-loaded mechanism that holds the staples in place within the stapler.
    • 2 Load the heavy-duty staples into the staple tray.
    • 3 Replace the follow block by inserting it back into the stapler and locking it into place over the holding hooks.

I did not receive manual with the Optima 45 electric stapler. How do i get the slid to open to add staples?

The slide tray is on the bottom of the unit.
to open, you just press the very front button on the bottom.
it should open right up.

Swingline 270 (69270) Staple ends are left mostly open Also, stapler makes a significant popping noise with each use

Swingline, now owned by ACCO, should have a service manual that would tell you how to clear jams - here's the url - http://www.acco.com/contactus.aspx#swingline. If not, you can also send them your question directly so they can help you resolve the issue.

My Swingline Optima Power Ease will not staple, nor can I open it to try to find out why. There are staples in there, but it feels like there are no springs

This happened to me as well. I am not sure what causes this but heres what I did to fix it.

Just grab the top part of the stapler ( where it says Swingline) and pull up, like you are trying to seperate the top and bottom. You will hear a click and your stapler should work fine.

Stapler (swingline 211xx) has jammed. It is electric. When I plug it in it make a very loud noise like it's trying to staple but nothing happens. When i press the release button on the top the stapler tray...

Turn the stapler over, remove the batteries, then remove the black pads and the four screwa under them. Take off the bottom cover and you will see the clear tabs of the cover sticking through the bottom plate. Pust them with a screwdriver toward the center of the stapler while squeezing the cover from the other side. Chances are that you will find the plunger that drives the staples is misaligned. Bend it gently forward or back until it moves without binding. Good Luck!

Staples penetrate, but do not bend

If you unscrew 4 bottom screws to lift the top cover, you may find out that there are 2 orange rubbers above its hammer that broke and needs to be replaced.

Instructions on unjamming swingline electric stapler model 270; jam is at the front of the stapler; staplers come out either broken, flaten or crooked and does not secure document.

First, are you using the recommended staples for this stapler? Many heavy duty electric staplers don't use "standard" desk staples. Second, try unplugging the stapler, unloading the staples, and if possible, reach a couple of fingers into the stapler and try manually pushing up on the staple head to see if you can get the driver blade to come down. Does it come down smoothly, or does it seem like there is something stuck in there? If you aren't sure about disassembling the unit (my usual method-but I'd recommend having the parts diagram handy), try using a flashlight to look at the underside of the staple head, where the staples come out - can you see anything stuck in there? If so, you might be able to use a small knife blade or small dental pick to get jammed staple pieces out.
