Question about Televison & Video
Composite consists of three wires, one for video, one left speaker output, and one right speaker output. Before long composite inputs will be phased out completely. The picture quality is about the same as connecting a cable box or sat receiver to the tv with regular coaxial cable.
Component is two steps above composite, the middle one being S-Video. Component is what most cable boxes use for HD boxes. It is almost the same quality as an HDMI cable. When using component, you have three cables for video, and two audio.
If your connections are composite or component, use component whenever possible. But if the choice is between component and HDMI, it depends on the device you are connecting. In this case, HDMI is always the best bet just because the cable is cheaper than component cables. The difference between HDMI and Component is almost unnoticeable, but for information's sake, there is a difference in quality. As for connecting the blu ray player to the internet, you will need a router if you plan on connecting it as well as a computer or other device. An ethernet cable connects from the modem to the router input, then another cable from output #1 to the blu ray player. It should then connect automatically
Hope this helps...
