I'm trying something similar, 3 lans on 3 interfaces, wan on the e0/3 interface.trying to use ASA as router for the lans and firewall for wan, Can't get routing and or access list right for each one to ping others. So 10.1.1.60 can't ping 192.168.0.33. Setting the switch "allow access to interfaces with same security level" did nothing to help.

Tried "static (server, users) 10.1.1.0 10.1.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 and the reverse and still no luck. Called Cisco, had tech on for week and he ended up saying it was my switch. Took switch out of loop and have the same issue.

Could nt access my asa5510?

If you are trying to access it remotely (via telnet or SSH), you will need to enable management on the interface that you are access it on, and it is also advisable to tie an access list to it.

If you are trying to access it via http, you will need to switch on http management with something like: http 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 inside

hope that helps!

I have a problem in asa5510 eth0 ip is 192.168.100.51 (inside) eth3 is static ip i can ping 4.2.2.4 from asa but i cant ping 4.2.2.4 from inside please solve this problems

It sounds like you have not allowed ICMP (ping) through the firewall, and you may need to put an access list in to allow this.

Failover best option required..

You can only do active/active if you're using multiple contexts. Active/active can give you some extra performance for your $ since you can pass traffic through both ASAs. Compare this to active/standby where the standby unit passes no traffic.

If you're pushing the 5510's to 80% capacity each in active/active mode, then you have one fail, now the one single ASA is oversubscribed. The oversubscription could cause connectivity issues that defeat the purpose of failover in the first place.

In the spirit of reliability go with active/standby. Seeing that you have two active core switches that would be pushing all of their traffic through a single 5510 in this case....it may be too much active/active may be the better solution.

ASA5510 Active/Standby Not Working

This is a old post, have you received and answer yet?

If not, make sure the internal interfaces are connected to one another and both have links. The ASA needs to have a "heartbeat" signal that passes between the 2 devices and this seems to be what's failing.

DMZ HOST IN FVS 124-G

The Netgear FVS124-G is a superb combo VPN firewall DSL/Cable small business router. Loads of features and Dual Wan to boot. I highly recommend it's use in small businesses But... Keeping the necessary firewall, you are missing another component in a properly segmented network, a VLAN switch. It is highly customizable and gives you the configurability and speed you are asking for. Look at it's features here: ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/FSxxxT_GSxxxT_smartswitch_UserManual.pdf The normal network security plan is: Internet -->Firewall-->Router (or Firewall/Router)-->VLan Switch-->Individual computers or VLan subnets. Using these two components together makes a more configurable and MUCH easier to setup network than using, say, one Sonicwall, or one CISCO PIX-501-BUN-K9 (which doesn't do VLan and you have to know Pix commands) You get FREE pre-sales and FREE post-sales support from Netgear, so call them on what makes sense for your situation.
