If you have a built-in card reader in your computer, simply plug the memory card into it. If you don't, you'll need to acquire one. Depending on the type of computer, you'll get a reader that plugs into USB or FireWire. Connect the card reader to the computer, then plug the card into the reader.

You can use the software that came with the camera, or any other photo cataloging/management software, or the computer's drag&drop to copy pictures from the card to your computer.

I just purchased a Kodak printer to print my digital pictures. When I try to look at the pictures wheather the memory chip is in the camera or directly in the printer it will only read 46 of the 200 or -...

If that's the case try connecting the the camera to your computer then print all the pictures then format your memory chip to make sure this is not a problem with the memory chip...

Hope that helps.......

1/2 my screen is white, 1/4 my screen is black and the remaining 1/4 shows my picture. It has not been dropped. This occurred after removing & re-installing chip to download to my computer.

Every time something strange happens to a camera, switch it of and on again. Of one step up. Remover the battery and reinsert it. Next step is to remove both the battery and the memory card. And when you are there, please check if nothing is wrong with the memory card and its contacts. Only a spec of dust in the camera, on one of the contacts, could split the fun.
Check is all contacts (Memory card and battery, and also the ones in the camera) are clean and shiny. Special the contacts on the memory card should be not bent or have a dent.
Try to rescue the pictures on the card to your computer, and when it is in the memory card reader, format the card, with FAT32.
If the card has any defect, your computer will tell you.
If after trying everything here, does not change the situation, please visit your dealer or a certified repair centre. (or start saving for a new camera.
CLEANING of contacts only use a dry cloth or cotton swabs. Never use anything sharp in or close to a camera.

How to bring up photos on my computer from camera.

you will need the usb cable to connect your camera to your pc and when you connect them the software should install either automatically or if the camera came with a cd you will need to insert the cd and install the software yourself then when you open the program that was installed it should give you an option to view the photos or to sync them with the pc and if this is not the case when you connect the camera if you open my computer there should be another drive where you see your C: drive

Wont work with windows vista

I assume that you have already tried plugging in your camera and letting Vista look for the correct driver! If you have your original disk that came with the camera, try it. Even though it was not for Vista. Most USB equipment require that you first install the drivers before you plug in the device. I have not checked the Vivitar web site since I still use Windows XP but they might have a driver available for your camera. Keep in mind that you do not need to use the USB port to download your pictures to the computer!!! You could purchase a USB Card Reader that is Vista compatable and simple remove the Memory card from your camera and let the Card Reader transfer your pictures to the computer. When you have finnished copying your pictures to the computer, do not let the computer delete them! If you do, the camera may not work properly. I once let the computer blank out the memory chip and then my camera would not work until I reformated the chip with the camera. Then the chip would work again. Simply use your camera to remove the pictures after you have put them on your computer.

E550 camera installation CD only has driver updates

You really don't need the Fuji download program to download everything from your camera. Any number of programs in Windows XP or Vista or from other cameras should work as well as Finepix. I have an E550 and usually download with Windows Photo Gallery--the compatible programs pop us as soon as you connect your camera with a cable, or put the xD memory chip into the computer chip reader. Still, if you want the original, you can download it all at http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/index.html
and choose the right one for your OS. I'm sure Fuji will have a download of the instruction manual, as well.

Good luck.
