Thanks! I'm convinced you're right. It's a faulty AM/FM switch. Playing with it, I was able to get FM back, but only momentarily. I can't seem to access the inner attachment point to fix it.

Possible that the band knob has slipped on it's shaft or has become out of line or loose. Try pulling the knob off, making not of the position and see if the shaft is loose. Try to get back to me on this.....

FM reception depends upon having a good antenna matched to the radio. What type of radio are you using, and what are you using for an antenna?

Bose Wave Radio, Model AWR1-1W When turned on radio emits a loud buzz and no other sound. Pushing tuning, volume, and aux buttons has no effect. Is this fixable? If so, how?

Loud buzz is usually caused by static and radio interference in radios. If none of this is affecting you unit presently there there is a probability that some cables which aid the fm antenna in receiving stations this could act as static which brings about the buzz on the unit. Either way it is caused by interference on the fm receiver end and all you have to do is get that serviced and the problem is solved.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

No fm reception

We had trouble switching from AM to FM. We finally solved the problem by pushing the reset button on the back of the unit (any sharp pointed object can be used to engage the reset button). Do this followed by setting the mode to FM and try tuning in your FM stations. Try the procedure several times and it may finally kick in, as was the case with us getting our AM stations
