I cannot find a way to hard reset my optiplex that runs win2000.

There is no such thing as a hard reset on a pc.
If you are referring to normal reset then just shut it down, wait 1 minute and start it up again. If you are referring to a return to new condition then just reinstall Windows using the disk that has came with the pc when you bought it.

My computer has gotten the bluescreen the past few days with an error message something like IRQL less than equal....now it says I have a configuration problem that must be resolved enable to start and run...

Download a bluescreen viewer application in order to fetch the exact stop error, as this is critical to identifying and resolving any possible hardware related problem. Then copy and paste the exact message and info.

Physical memory dump

Hmm... Well a Bluescreen is when your computer crashes, and (as you have found out) preforms a physical memory dump. This can be caused by multiple things. Such as bad drivers, PFN(page frame number) or problems with your memory. When a bluescreen event occurs, the is a technical information which has an error code that can be used to help find the problem. In order to fix this problem, you may have to remove any software, or hardware that you have recently installed. To uninstall software, you may need to boot in safe mode, which is where your computer starts up using the minimal amount of drivers needed, in order to try to prevent the computer from crashing.

I received a bluescreen with message turn off

It sounds like you have a virus.

try and start the computer in Safe Mode just hit your reset button and then Press F5 before windoze starts.

select "Start Safe Mode with Networking"

Update your antivirus program and Try to run another antivirus scan.

If that doesnt work, you need to do this........When Windows crashes, it writes a system event 1001 and a minidump to the folder\
\windows\minidump Check system event 1001 and it has the content of the blue screen

Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> System -> Event 1001.

Copy the content and email it to me at clb199@yahoo.com

pls rate 4 stars

short of that, you are going to have to

Dell optiplex GX280 bluescreen hardrive problem

It appears that the boot sector of your hard drive became corrupted. The problem is not hardware related and should be fixable by using the restore CD that came with your unit.

Blue Screen

There is a very good page for diagnosing Windows bluescreen STOP messages which should narrow down if it's hardware or software. The page gives a list of all the possible bluescreen entries and links to relevant Microsoft pages where necessary. Take a look at it by clicking here.
