I have a new pair of Bushnell Elite Custom compact binoculars. This morning on a hike, I dropped them in a fresh water creek and they now have water in them. What would you advise?

Hi there,

Well the circuit that controls the Focus might still have some water or moisture left on it, so you need to drive out and dry the moisture. for this place your binocular in a low humidity location. You can use a hair dryer as well for this. be careful while doing this but this will surely work....... Please post comments for more help or information.........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Rubber housing on Sigma binoculars has gone sticky

  • Moisten a soft cloth with ammonia or Windex. Rub it over the sticky area to remove some of the damaged surface.
  • Ammonia can be used as well, but should be used with caution as it can cause damage to some plastic surfaces.
  • If the sticky, damaged surface remains, it can be scraped away with a spoon or dull knife.
  • Please note that these fixes are only temporary. Once the plastic starts to degrade, it will continue and the problem will be recurring. It is best to replace these parts whenever possible.

The right hand lens came loose and fell off. Where can I buy a replacement?

You can't get a replacement part yourself, the only fix is to return the binoculars to Bushnell for repair.

If you're in the USA or Canada then your binoculars will be covered by Bushnell's Limited Lifetime Warranty; this applies only to the original purchaser and excludes misuse or any evidence of unauthorised repair attempts. If the warranty does not apply then you will still need to send the product back to Bushnell for a repair estimate.

If you are outside north America, then warranties and repair processes may be different and you'll need to contact the Bushnell office for your part of the world.

Note that as your binoculars are relatively cheap and can be purchased new for US $123.39 it may be better to sell yours on an auction site for spare parts and purchase a new pair. If you were not the original purchaser you then get the benefit of not only a brand new pair of binoculars, but the Limited Lifetime Warranty would also give you future protection.

I hope that my reply has been of assistance, if so please take a moment to rate my answer.

    Loose hinge _ Bushnell small binocs - 8 x 21; 392 FT at 1000 Yds.

Bushnells are inexpensive binoculars. A repair would cost more than a new one. If they are out of alignment to have them collimated would take time and that translates to expense. Its not something that can be done at home without a collimator. New ones similar to yours can be found online for between twenty to forty US dollars. Binoculars today can be bought much cheaper than a few years ago. If you are happy with the use you have had from your Bushnells an update won't break the bank.

Bausch and Lomb rubber eye cups

Bausch & Lomb was purchased by Bushnell in the 70's. Your elites are Japanese made and considered quite a good binocular. Bushnell continued to make the same binoculars bearing the Elite name but replaced B&L with Bushnell. The current elites are different shaped. You could contact Bushnell or you could go to a store in your area that may stock the older Bushnell Elites and try and see if the eyecups fit.

    Double vision

The distance between the centers of the eyepieces of your binocular must be the same as the distance between your pupils. This distance is adjusted as follows: 1. Focus on a distant object. 2. Pivot the two halves of your binocular farther or closer apart until you can see a single unobstructed, circular field of view. Make sure to focus on a distant object when you do this because when you focus on a close object you always see two slightly overlapping circular fields. Your binocular may have a scale on the top, between the eyepieces, to help you remember this setting.
