Is very often out of one part, you can only take off the statorwindings.

is it a no crank or crank no start?
Possible causes for code P0335
- Faulty crankshaft position sensor

Crankshaft sensor


Here is a link to a how-to video, but he doesn't show you the first few steps, so, first, set parking brake, disconnect negative battery cable, raise and support vehicle. Remove passenger side wheel and then the inside splash guard in the wheel well. Remove serpentine drive belt, then remove the crank pulley. Watch the video for the rest.

Electric clutch assemble fell off, broke shaft and cut wires.


Your shaft broke ?going to the engine? crankshaft? Thats strange never seen that before usually keyway is built into clutch.If this is what you describe you need a new crankshaft in your motor. Will probably be expensive.

I have a 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee. Can the bearing and crank shaft be replaced without having to replace the entire motor? They are telling me I need a new motor, but when I told them i couldnt come up...


Yes the crankshaft and the main bearings can be replaced w/out changing out the motor. You can probably get a motor out of a wrecked Jeep and have it installed for under 1,000.00 and have it done quicker than replacing the crankshaft, and main bearings.

Heat Pump comes on. But the fan is not spinning. Is there any thing I can troubleshoot to see if in fact its the motor. Or what might be causing this. The unit does start like its in defrost mode but its...


Checking out a motor to see if it’s bad.
Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad.
If it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side, if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced.
Then, check the capacitor, a lot of the newer voltmeters have a capacitor scale on them so you can check the microfarads or if it’s open or shorted. You can use an ohmmeter to check the capacitor, be sure to turn the power off and disconnect the capacitor wires before ohmming capacitor, but it will only tell you if it’s open or shorted. If it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok.
If capacitor is ok, you can ohm out the motor but be sure to turn the power off and disconnect the motor wires before ohmming, or turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage (by using a voltmeter),if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced. The motor can also be shorted you will usually know if it’s shorted, it will smell hot or burnt or the insulation on the wires may be melted. The other thing would be to check all the terminals and connections to see if they are discolored or look like they have been hot or burnt (indications of a loose connection) to make sure the motor is getting the full voltage.

Burnt rubber smell after replacing motor coupling


what has happened is that the coupler has not been fully seated on the gearbox shaft, the motor shaft, or both. you should use a socket and hammer to firmly seat the plastic coupling on each shaft. If the coupling is not properly seated, the washer will work, you will get rotation, but there will be constant back pressure on the motor shaft, pushing it against the rear bearing race and the pump at the rear, the added friction causes heat buildup in the motor and sometimes overtemp switch operation. Just solved this tricky problem myself. another clue that the coupler isn't fully flush and seated is the last motor retention strap is very difficult to get on, due to the 1/8-1/4 inch extra length.

On an old motor,the problem will be that the shaft that runs from the crankshaft to the g/box may have frozen .The shaft has a splined fitting that goes into the bottom of the crankshaft.These have a habit of fusing together.It can sometimes be a problem to get them apart.1st try is to unbolt the power head and put some gentle heat onto it.The fused part (bottom of the crank).2nd is to turn the crank and with a soft striker(eg copper or zinc shaft)striking it all the way around the fused point,maybe 10 or 20 times.Then try the heat again.Its a long process but cheaper than having to buy new stuff. SECTION 501-16: Wipers and Washers 1999 Town Car Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Mounting Arm and Pivot Shaft Removal
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).
  1. Remove the windshield wiper pivot arms (17527).
    1. Remove the nuts (one each side).
    1. Remove the windshield wiper pivot arms.
  1. Remove the LH and RH cowl top vent panels.
    1. Remove the hood weatherstrip.
    1. Remove the screws.
    1. Remove the retaining clips.
      • Disconnect the LH and RH washer hoses.
  1. Position the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566) assembly aside.
    1. Remove the nuts.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Position the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly aside.
  1. Remove the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Remove the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft assembly.

Crank shaft Sensor


After replacement of crankshaft position sensor, the computer needs to have the crankshaft position system variation learn procdeure performed. That requires a factory scan tool. Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.Raise and support the vehicle. .
  2. Remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the CKP sensor shield (1). DO NOT use a pry bar.

  4. Remove the CKP sensor studs.
  5. Remove the CKP sensor.
Installation Procedure

  1. Install the CKP sensor. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the CKP sensor studs. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

Vacuum motor shaft too hot


Check the brush roll ends, will they turn easily or is one frozen. If so, you need to replace the brush roll. If the motor turns on, it and the belt are trying to turn the brush roll and can't. Also check the ends where the brush roll sits in and make sure it hasn't overheated and melted., If it did you will have to replave the base.
