I have a Pfaff 7510 that needs a "power board" -- any idea where I can get one? A dealer said he has to wait 8 months for one from Pfaff!

SOURCE: Pfaff 1475 CD. Intermittant Power On.

The typical rebuild on this board is done by replacing the 22 micor farrad caps. There are 3 or 5 of them depending if it is new or old style. Note: the power to the sew lamp goes straight from the motor to the lamp, the power to the control panel goes from the motor to the main board (base plate) then to the control panel. If you get the LED's on occasion then it is not the transformer or fuses in the base plate but simply the caps. Sometimes you can just scrape off the electrolytic gel that has oozed out of the caps off of their teminals, but replacing them is the best.
A Pfaff dealer can get a core credit for your board if you take it in. You shouldn't have to pay more than $200-$300 for a rebuilt base plate.

I think I need a power board because my machine keeps stopping. Have to wait to start again. Also my light is broke. I have a 1171 and wondered if parts are still available for that machine. It was my moms...

Hi, ..go for the simple first. It could be motor brushes..the next time the machine stops try turning the handwheel and see if it starts to run again. If it does, the motor brushes are worn down. It would probably be less than a 100.00 to repair it.

Good Luck!

Machine just stops but power is on

that is the power board (in base plate) you need a rebuilt base plate. Unless you can rebuild the power board. You can buy a rebuilt board and send your in and receive a core credit. It still will probably run $200 to get one. It will also come with a 2 year warranty.

Pfaff 1222 and pfaff 1229

Have a certified repairman look at the power board in the machine. The power supply circuits are broken on the board itself. Can be repaired with wire and solder. How do I know? Just fixed my wifes 1229 that had the same problem.

P.S. New boards are NOT available from PFAFF or anyone else

My dealer advised me to change the light bulb, which I've done, and since then its been fine.

Hope this works for your too.

All the best.

Husqvarna Viking #1 blown fuse

You will most likely find that ALL of the "better" manufacturers; Bernina, Husqvarna, Pfaff, will not sell proprietary parts to non-brand dealers. Ultimately, this protects the customer.
With that being said, chances are the problem you are having is NOT a bad circuit board, but a bad power supply. But, since you don't trust your local dealers, find a dealer that is not so local. A two hour car ride is going be a lot cheaper that replacing the wrong part, and NO dealer will return your money on a part that the customer diagnosed as being faulty. I assure you, a Viking dealer somewhere will help you with your problem. You might want to try a Pfaff dealer. They can sometimes obtain Viking parts.
I would try replacing the power supply first. Its a cheaper priced part, and more likely your problem. Its also easier for DIY'ers, but extreme caution must be taken to ground yourself to the machine. Static is always a concern with electronic sewing machines, and even more so this time of year. Proper grounding equipment should be worn while performing any internal repair or adjustment in any electronic machine.
As far as replacing the circuit board yourself, if necessary, also be very careful when disconnecting and reconnecting wires. The connectors are very small and bend easily. Also, care should be taken when tightening screws. Overtightening can cause faults within the circuit board by cracking the solder paths or just plain break the board.
