I matched both chips and and it will not move in red, blue or the advanced alignement

  • Paul Falzarano Feb 08, 2010

I was able to get into the menu and there were numbers that moved up and down on the grid but nothing happened. There was another section that had numbers that moved but there wasn't any grid. Only the green numbers moved but not the red. The red went back to the green after about 10 seconds

Hello again. I am having trouble understanding how to navigate the website. I got into the settings but nothing moved. There were numbers that moved up and down but the grid didn't move. there was another setting with just numbers and no grid. the green numbers moved but nothing happened and when I switched to the red the numbers didn't move

    Thankyou.

Could I have burned out the new convergence chips by using a soldering iron over 35 watts?

  • Paul Falzarano Feb 10, 2010

I checked the resistors they are supposed to be 560 and they came up 548 to 550. Would that be concidered too low?

  • Paul Falzarano Feb 11, 2010

When you say last band do you mean the tolerance band? In my case I have 4 colors, green, blue, brown and gold. That makes a 560 ohm resistor. I should have nothing less than 559 and nothing greater than 561? Thanks

  • Paul Falzarano Feb 12, 2010

Thankyou! I am still working on the problem so I am sure to bother you again soon! Thanks again

The resistor error should be with in the tolerance zone(last band of the color coding). If its within that then they are OK.

Tolerance means the permissible error limit of the resistor. The last band is Gold right? So the error limit is +or - 5%x multiplier 0.1 . So the error limit is 0.5% or 14KOhms.Meaning the resistor is alright.
Here is a chart that you might find useful.

The main board is probably bad but what you can do to verify this for sure, is to look for any chips that are burnt.

Also look at the capacitors, good capacitors will have flat silver tops on them where as if the capacitors are bad they will look puffy, pregnant, etc. The silver tops will be bulging on top. If you see any like this then you'll want to replace them with capacitors of the same UF rating and at least the same voltage or higher. Also capacitors can only go in one way with the marked side of the cap facing the marked side on the board.

The other thing you may want to do is with your multimeter, check the resistors and make sure the values are within range, if they are way to high or way to low then that would cause the convergence to still be off.

Also check to make sure that all the solder points for the convergence chips are neatly done and that none of them leaked over to another solder point. If this happens that would cause the convergence to still be off. Get a good magnifying glass and check each solder point on each convergence chip.

If you still cant get the convergence to come in then the board is bad for sure.

Check for open fuses in the power supply and bad resistors around the convergence IC's. The fuses will be small pico type fuses. It is hard to say which resistors could be open because there are about a half a dozen of them around the IC's. Most of the time they will be physically burnt so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for using fixya.

    MITSUBISHI

For Factory MENU press Menu then 1-3-7-0

    Service Adjustment Mode, press MENU 2 3 5 7

    Convergence Mode, press 2 3 5 9

Use The VIDEO buttons tomove thru the adjustments

Use The + and - keys to adjust

When finished with adjustments press ENTER to save

Press MENU twice to exit service mode

NOTE: If the above MENU number did not let you enter service mode try one of the following:

    MENU1 2 5 7

    MENU1 2 5 9

    MENU 2 3 5 6

    MENU 2 3 5 8

    MENU 8 2 5 7

THIS will ALLOW you To ENTER To Make Adjustments in the Convergence

Then Save and Exit Service Mode.

Must Have Mitsubishi Remote Control Handunit to Make these Adjustments.

Have you checked with ohm meter all low ohm resistors? You should have been able to adjust convergences then saved and exit and been done with repair, theres only a few things lefted to do and thats to either call a repair shop to finish job or replace whole convergence board Encompass Parts might have one in stock 1-800-638-3328

Low ohm resistors cause alinement problems more so then the high ohm resistors. And it has been known to get defective ICs it does happen!

It comes on and then it goes off

This just happened to me as well. Keep it plugged in for about five minutes without trying to turn it on. Then try. This will ultimately tell you that your convergence chip is out. If the screen comes back on, it will look distorted. This is most definantly that chip going out. I suggest a tv repair kit or trash it. If the green light is not lighting up, you will need to check out the standby power supply inside the TV set, or if this set has a DM board, you will need to change the capacitors. Good Luck

Mitsubishi vs-45605 with wavy lines

The first things to check are the filter caps in the main power supply area. Usually this rolling is caused by 60 cycle hum coming from the wall. Try that first and update this with your results. Also, while you are in there, resolder any joints that appear grainy or have rings.

Mitsubishi vs-45605

G'day mate

To all accounts it does, this can be checked by verifying that it has TWO antenna inputs. To get the PIP working, you will need to split and feed both antenna inputs. Seems to be set up this way to cater to PIP with set top boxes/convertors that have RF outputs
358cd4a.jpg

the 2 tuners can be spotted as the shielded assemblies with covers either side in the lower right corner of this pic. There is a mod floating around that involves bypassing the PIP to fix a fault that the set develops. This may have been done to your already.

check here for details.

Hope this helps you. A fixya rating is a great thankyou for my efforts to assist you . Cheers

Put a fan in it. Something is overheating in the unit and by placing a small fan in the back, inside the back cover, the lines disappear. Hope it works for you, it did for me.

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
