I have a walbro WT349 on a mac cat 38cc. chainsaw

I have a walbro WT349 on a mac cat 38cc. It has a primer bulb and two holes in the fuel tank. The carb has two barbs for lines. I need to know how to run the fuel lines. Thanks ! Gassman58

Leave the hoses a little long an try it. Logic says the uppermost carburetor connection goes to the priver bulb, but you and I both know logic does not always work.

The IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw is the only detail for fuel line routing and it is sketchy at best; components are listed but may be on different illustrations.
McCulloch IPLs (600160) You provide the prefix and suffix.

OK, there are two conections on the back of the primer, the longer conection is the pressure side, so this has a hose back to the fuel tank, it will just push into the tank with nothing on the end, the shorter connection on the primer is the suction side, this pipe will go to the carb, the conection nearest to the metering cover of the carb, usually a chrome cover held with four screws, the other connection on the carb, nearest to the pump cover, usually alluminium held with a single screw, goes to the fuel tank with the fuel filter on the end, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb, into the bulb and back into the tank.

PowerMac by McCulloch PM425AV-18 38cc. I have replaced the line from the fuel mixture tank to the primer bulb & replaced the primer bulb. Now the chainsaw won't keep or looses the prime. Now...


Are you sure you have conected the pipes the correct way round, the fuel hose from the tank with the filter on the end goes to the main fuel inlet on the carb, nearest to the alloy pump cover, the other conection off the carb goes to the shorter conection on the back of the primer, the longer pipe on the primer goes back to the tank, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb, into the bulb, and back to the tank.

Need diagram of fuel lines from tank to primer bulb and carburator on a Poland chainsaw model 1950 wood shark


There are 7 different types of the 1950 model (types 1 - 7) and it came with one of these 2 carbs Walbro or Zama. The carbs are different as are the fuel line connections for each one.
Although this video is for the promer bulb you can see the routing of the fuel lines.

You will have one line from the fuel tank connecting to primer bulb the 2nd line going to the carb. If you connect it backward it does not pump fuel into the carb.

Walbro WT891 carb on a Craftsman chainsaw. Carb is brand new, all fuel lines and fule filter replaced. I prime the carb with the little plunger, chainsaw starts up and runs out of fuel within 30 seconds....


Who connected these hoses? the normal routing for a machine with a primer is like this, the fuel hose from the tank with the filter on the end goes to the carb fuel inlet nozzel ( not to the primer ) nearest to the pump cover ( cover on carb held with one screw ) the pipe from the metering side of the carb connects to the shorter nozzel on the primer bulb ( suction side ), the longer nozzel on the primer ( pressure side ) connects to the pipe going back to the tank, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb,into the bulb, and pushes it back into the tank, it is not actually a primer it is a purge. because it is connected this way it is impossible to flood the engine no matter how many times the bulb is pressed.

Do you have a diagram that shows where all the fuel lines on a MAC 2337 string trimmer go? There are two places on the carburetor (Walbro 312) for fuel lines to go, two fuel lines coming out of the fuel...


The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then "pushes" any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2" or so.

No gas to carb


There should not be a vent hose--it probably goes to a port on the primer bulb. Check the fuel filter for plugging and the condition of all fuel lines (they should be original rubber, not plastic replacements). Try priming the carburetor with the bulb pump--it should pull fuel into the bulb after several pushes. If nothing, check the condition of the primer bulb--it should be soft without cracks or holes.The primer is supposed to pull fuel from the tank's fuel filter, into the carburetor top section, pass into the lower section through the metering valve which is controlled by the diaphragm, then out to the input port of the primer and out the other primer port to return fuel to the tank. McCulloch Chainsaw carb not getting fuel


This is the same problem I have with a Mac 3200. I have: (1) A line from the primer bulb to the front port on the carburator. (2) line from fuel tank, with attached fuel filter, to the other primer bulb port. (3) Line from port on back of carb. to ????. I thought it must be a pulse line, but not certain, and don't know where to run it to. Please let me know when you find out.

Fuel hose routing problem on a Mac 3200 Chainsaw


This post helped me with my McCulloch Mac 3216 chainsaw. There are two holes in the gas tank - one above the other. One is for the gas line (with the filter on the end) and the other is for the overflow - a simply line that runs from the "out" nipple on the primer bulb into the gas tank. The filtered fuel line goes to the nipple on the back of the carb. Another short line goes from the "in" nipple on the primer bulb to the nipple on the front of the carb.

There are two notches just out from the two holes in the gas tank for holding the lines that go in -- this may help you locate the holes.

I found it helpful to pull the lines that go into the gas tank out through the gas cap hole and leave them hanging out until the housing was reassembled. I also left the lines that plug into the primer bulb hanging out through the hole where the bulb goes until the housing was put back on. Leave plenty of extra line for the lines going out to the primer bulb. Once the housing is in place, cut the lines to the primer bulb and attach them, and slip the lines into the tank, making sure the ends are as far down in the tank as possible. You will need this extra "slack" to work with the housing to get it back on.

Poulan 2150 w/ walbro wt324 carb fuel line reassembly


the fule line that comes from the filter/ pick up will go straight to the nipple usualy the one closest to the middle of the carby.
the other hose comes from the carby to the in or **** side( punp it you can feel it)of the primer and then goes to the tank that is the return/ prime, nothing is conected to it in the tank. if you have the carby one the wrong way around it will not prime. just swap them over..
