Hi, Instead of using the softwae disk, try going to the router's config page,

Connect your computer toi the router using the ethernet cable that came with it

then click here

the usename is admin and the password is password

Use the basic setup wizard in there to input your isp username and password

I don't have the cd

You don't really need the CD to setup a router but it does make it easier for non technical users.

I need to connect my ipod to internet but i need my code that is lost

To retrieve the WEP "code"..... you will need to access the Router with a computer connected to the ethernet port on the router. You will need the Username and Password for the Belkin.

You should be able to access the unit from your browser.... by typing in the following IP Address in the address bar.....

Most of these wireless routers have "default values"

Username= admin
Password= password

If Belkin does not respond.... you may need to push in the reset button.... with the power on. This will reset all values to default. Then just try again....

Under Wireless Options... You should see the SSID and the WEP Code

Installing belkin wireless router

1. First, Begin by resetting your modem, the reset button can be found on the back of the modem, underneath the power button.

2. Once the modem is reset, do this for your router, and when you are finished connect the cable from your Modem into the "internet" or "modem" port on the back of your router.

3. Now run a cable from port number 1 on your router, to the back of your originial computer. Give this a moment to sync.

4. Now open your web browser and type in and hit enter, it should prompt you for a username and password, enter "admin" in the username, and leave the password blank. You will now see the router's status page.

5. Now configure the Router according to your ISP setting.

I have a problem I just bought GE 2.4 GHZ phone

I'm not sure if your phone has a channel selection or not, but I know your router does. This issue happens because both wireless internet and cordless phones operate on the same frequency. To change your wireless channel you need to go to your router settings which should be at for a belkin router. To get here you simply type that number where you would normally type a web address in your browser. You enter the username and password and go to wireless settings. Under there you should see something along the lines of channel. The most common channels are 6 and 10, if your router is already on one of these, try another channel. Just keep doing this until you find a channel that your phone is not using and your router should work just fine now.

It wont connet to my belkin wireless router find the password, or network key:

1) Login to your router.

To do this, open a web browser on a computer, as if about to view a web page: then type the router address, in the address bar.

2) You should see a prompt asking for a password. Just click 'submit' button if none has been set: otherwise, enter the correct router login password.

3) You should see the router user interface. In the left hand menu, under Wireless, click Security.

The 'Pre-Shared Key' or PSK you see there is the network key (password) you need.

Please come back to Fixya if this doesn't work or if you need help with any of it. Good luck

I'm trying to connect to my belkin54g router with another laptop - how do I find my wep or wpa?

First make sure you can see the router in your Available Networks. You can do this by double clicking the Networks icon at the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
If you can see the router on the list, double click on it, and if it is unsecured, then you should be able to connect to the internet. If it is 'secured', then you have to enter the Username and Password to gain access.
Or you could type into your internet browser URL box on the laptop. This will ask for the same Username and Password. The default Username is usually 'admin' and the default password is usually 'password' (or 1234 on older models). If successful, you should be able to see the routers settings, and diagnose if your router is properly connected to the internet. If it seems to be connected, and the Username and Password are being entered properly into the laptop when you try to connect to a network, then it can only mean that the laptop's wireless card/adapter is not configured properly on the laptop.
I hope that helps :)

check what is ur default gateway
then goto internet explorer
type the default gateway in address bar
YOUR belkin router homepage will come up
If it asks you for any username and password
U will have to contact belkin to get that...
after entering the username and password
u will be able to check the configuration setings
find the firewall settings on the router ( if ur router comes up with inbuilt firewall )and change it to "high"
It could help
